Based off of the second of the classic chain of Californian restaurants, the Hollywood Brown Derby serves as Disney's Hollywood Studios most upscale eatery. Located on Hollywood Boulevard in between Animation Courtyard and Sunset Boulevard, it is themed as the classic restaurant of the 1930's and 1940's with hundreds of caricatures of celebrities hanging all throughout, and featuring the famous Brown Derby Cobb Salad.

[edit] History of the Brown Derby restaurants
The original Brown Derby, whose building was actually shaped as a Brown Derby, opened in 1926 on Willshire Boulevard in Hollywood, California. It's unique design, good food, and prime location quickly made it a popular spot for Hollywood's finest. In 1937, the building was moved further down the street, but was eventually sold in 1975, and replaced by a sopping center in 1980, however, the center goes by "Brown Derby Plaza" and features the dome of the Hat on top of the building.
The second Brown Derby, the one of which Disney's Hollywood Studios version is based off of, is perhaps the most famous. The Hollywood Brown Derby, as it was called, opened just two years after the original on North Vine Street and survived well into the 1980's. It was even featured in an episode of I Love Lucy. Unfortunately, in 1987 the building was nearly destroyed, causing it to be shut down, and the last of the remnants are being converted into a Hotel being built in the area.
A third Brown Derby was built, once again on Willshire Boulevard, albeit much further down, called the Beverly Hills Brown Derby. It much resembled the Hollywood Derby and was opened in 1931. In 1983, this restaurant was closed and demolished.
In 1940, a fourth Brown Derby appeared on Los Feilz Boulevard. However, in 1960 it became Michel's of Los Feliz, and in 1992 it became a nightclub simply known as The Derby. In January of 2009, the Nightclub was closed, leaving the building vacant, and by default making the Disney's Hollywood Studios Brown Derby the only one currently operating.
