Disney's Stars and Motor Cars Parade is Disney's Hollywood Studios longest running parade, May 1, 2001 to October 13, 2007, and it featured elements from every major parade proceeding it.

Parade Synopsis

The Parade featured 13 to 15 themed vehicles that would start at a gate by Star Tours, head around Echo Lake, and down Hollywood Boulevard in a motorcade fashion, with Meet and Greet versions of the characters from the movie or TV shows that featured them.

Despite new cars being added, that parade itself was pretty much the same, except for during the Holiday Season when the parade was re-named the Hollywood Holly-Day Parade in which all of the cars were decked out in holiday gear, and it featured a very special guest star at the end. It would start off with Mickey and friends in a different front car, and end with Santa Claus in their usual car at the back of the parade.

List of Cars Featured

This was the same car from Toy Story - The Parade. It Featured Buzz Lightyear and Woody. Other favorite characters include Bo Peep, Jessie, Mr. Potato Head, and the Green Army Men.

Mary Poppins and Bert, along with the Dancing Penguins, stroll down the street alongside a colorful car with old-fashioned carousel horses dancing atop the vehicle.

Kermit the Frog, and Miss Piggy travel in style inside a “floating” car, with a giant blimp-like version of the famous Muppet*Vision Balloon on top of it. Sweetums walks along their side.

Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa “fly” through the parade aboard Luke's Landspeeder, as seen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. R2-D2 is by their side to protect them from Darth Vader, who is traveling not to far behind.

This was the same car from Mulan - The Parade. You won’t miss Mulan and friends inside this colorful vehicle. A giant Chinese umbrella dangles over this unit. Mushu and the Chinese Warriors walk side-by-side escorting the courageous victor down Hollywood Boulevard.

  • Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Milo Thatch and Kida are pulled from the animator’s page and placed inside a life-size Atlantian vehicle.

This was the same car from Aladdin's Royal Caravan. Aladdin and Jasmine are sitting right “on top” of Genie, who has transformed himself into a car. Guests also interact with the Harem Girls as they boogie down the parade route.

  • Disney Villains

The characters you love to hate are all riding together on this ‘wicked’ float. From Hades to Cruella De Vil to Jafar, the Wicked Queen and Frollo, these scoundrels keep each other company atop a stretch limo -- painted black, of course, with a little bit of flames.

Celebrate the sea with Ariel and Sebastian. From seashells to seahorses, favorite under-the-sea attendants “swim” through the streets.

  • Hercules

This is the same car from Hercules' "Zero to Hero" Victory Parade. Hercules rides in his car splashed with thunderbolts. Phil is close by, but Pain and Panic devilishly walk not to far behind.

“Playhouse Disney” friends including Bear, Stanley, Treelo, and P and J Otter gather for fun inside a big blue house on wheels. This car offered an exception to the Meet and Greet characters rule with all the characters, except Bear, being puppets as seen in Playhouse Disney - Live on Stage!.

  • Snow White

Snow White sits atop a Royal Car, with Dopey following behind.

  • Grand Marshal

A randomly Selected Family would get to sit in this extra Special vehicle.

  • Finale

This unit celebrates the glamour of tinseltown with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, and Pluto. Old favorites wrap up the parade with style as the characters sit inside a 1929 Cadillac decked out with film strips in classic Disney style. Other characters interacting with guests include Alice, White Rabbit, Pinocchio and Geppetto.

The Atlantis and Hercules cars were replaced with two new Cars:

Sulley and Mike Wazowski atop a bright red car with the company logo.

Lilo and Stitch "hang loose" in a car covered with surf boards and palm trees.

Meet and Greet versions of Jo-Jo and Goliath were added walking by the Playhouse Disney Car, and two brand new Cars were added:

It featured the latest Power Ranger in the car, with the Four others leading just in front.

  • "Guest Star"

This featured characters from an upcoming Disney film. None of these cars became permanent additions. These cars included

    • Chicken Little (2005)

Chicken Little and Abby Mallard sit atop the former "Grand marshal" vehicle.

    • Cars (2006)

Drive Around Versions of Lightining McQueen and Mater lead the front of the Parade

    • Ratatouille (early 2007)

Princess Gisele goes a bit more low-tech, with a Horse Drawn Carriage, and a group of servants following just behind.

Future of this Attraction

Though this parade is no longer in Disney's Hollywood Studios, it is now at the Walt Disney Studios Park. Early Previews of the attraction show it as the 2002-5 edition of the parade, sans the Muppets and Star Wars Cars, having Donald and Daisy take over the Grand Marshal Car, and replacing all the male villains in the Villains car with Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.

The Power Rangers car, however, is still in Hollywood Studios and is used for the meet and greet characters.
