Type: California style Italian restaurant

Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano Review

Mama Melrose's has perhaps the best decor and feel of any restaurant in the Studios. The restaurant looks great, and the fact it's in the "boonies" allows you to pretty much just walk in and sit down or make last minute reservations as this place hardly gets filled up. The food quality of the place is mixed. Some is great, some is nothing special. Also, most dishes aren't that "bland" that picky eaters can find something routine (at least not on the adult menu or without asking to take out half the things).

While dining at Mama Melrose, you get free bread and a good option might be to order one more appetizer than you have people in your party (so 4 people in your party means 5 appetizers) and just share appetizers as they have some very tasty appetizers that are large in portion size. Mama Melrose is best known for their flatbreads, which are thin-crust pizzas to the rest of the world. The pizzas are small (each one is enough for one person) so sharing a pizza isn't a viable option. If pizza isn't your thing, you can't go wrong with the Penne Alla Vodka during dinner or the Chicken Parmigiana. If you like desserts, by far the best dessert at the Studios is the warm chocolate truffle cake. The decor of the place is some sort of mix between the famous spaghetti scene out of Lady and the Tramp and what TGI Friday's would look like if they only served Italian food. They play a mix of Hollywood and Italian songs to set the mood.

Mama Melrose's is rather large and it can be somewhat noisy for non-character meal. It's rather remote location makes it a hard to find place for most guests to find so it doesn't get that busy and it's a great option for a last minute dinner or lunch. Also keep in mind that due to its location, if you're on Sunset Boulevard riding Tower of Terror, the time to get from there to Mama's without sprinting is rather long when you take into account crowds and the speed of your party.
