The Hollywood Brown Derby

Location: Hollywood Boulevard
Service: Full Service
Type: Fancy Hollywood Restaurant
Cuisine: American
The Hollywood Brown Derby Review

The Hollywood Brown Derby is the signature restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Modeled after the original Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant from Los Angeles, you will find the Brown Derby to be an upscale restaurant that may make you feel a bit under dressed considering its patrons are theme park guests wearing shorts and tshirts.  You'll find everything here a Hollywood fan would want such as the caricatures on the walls of famous people, curved booths, elegants sets and waiters dressed in tuxedos.

The food at the Brown Derby is wonderful, although expensive. Also the food here requires a more of an "open" taste, as you're not going to find chicken fingers on the menu. The menu is certainly the most limited of all the full service restaurants at Hollywood Studios. Everything is made with exquisite detail. Be sure to try the Cobb salad as it's their specialty and many who have tried it have pronounced it the best Cobb salad they have ever had. The other items on the menu tend to be very good as well.  For dessert, the grapefruit cake is a real hit with those who come back to the restaurant year after year so give it a try.  If you want to pick one day to eat out at either a fancy lunch or dinner, this is the place.

If you are looking for a last minute reservation at Hollywood Studios for somewhere to eat, the Brown Derby tends to be one of the last restaurants at Hollywood Studios to be completely booked up.  It's a good restaurant to keep in the back of your mind if your group decides they want to have a sit down meal but reservations are hard to come by.

Overall, the Brown Derby is one of the best restaurants in Walt Disney World and despite it's expensive price tag, is worth going to.  The saying "you get what you pay for" is true with this restaurant and although we find the prices expensive, we found the food to be worth the money spent.  There is great service along with great food and a fascinating atmosphere, which is sure to leave you wanting to come back.  Everything is wonderful and as long as you've got the credit card, go all out and have a blast.
