Remembering Hollywood Studios’ 20th Anniversary

All the buzz this week around the Disney Internet community is the fact that Saturday marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Magic Kingdom (and Walt Disney World as a whole).  It's a big day for the Magic Kingdom and rightfully so.  Some of the days events have been announced already and other aspects are remaining a surprise.

I thought it would be fun to take a look back at Disney's Hollywood Studios' 20th Anniversary celebration that took place a year and a half ago.  We may see some overlap in terms of what Disney does to celebrate the Magic Kingdom's 40th compared to what it did for the Studios.

Banners like this adorned the entrance to Hollywood Studios, perhaps we will see artwork and banners at the Magic Kingdom doing the same.

Then-Vice President of Hollywood Studios Rilous Carter had some opening remarks as the Studios opened for the day.  The Magic Kingdom's Vice President and perhaps other Disney "brass" could be on hand as well.

We already know the Magic Kingdom will sell special 40th anniversary cupcakes, just like Hollywood Studios did for its 20th anniversary.  It should be noted that these 20th anniversary cupcakes were sold for the entire month, so we could see the 40th anniversary cupcakes lasting longer than a day too.

Those looking to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Walt Disney World may find pins similar to these Hollywood Studios 20th anniversary pins.

Inside of One Man's Dream was a rather large display of Hollywood Studios history and I'd love to see 40th anniversary memorabilia on display as well.

Disney handed out these special tags to Cast Members at Hollywood Studios that had been working at the Studios since the park opened.  I'm not sure if there is anyone at the Magic Kingdom that has worked there for all 40 years but I'd hope they could be recognized as well.
