I mentioned in the fourth article in the Worlds Apart series back in June 2008 that the cars from Disney's Stars and Motorcars Parade had been transported from Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort to the Walt Disney Studios at Disneyland Resort Paris and that nothing had been announced about what was to become of either those or the Disney's Cinema Parade which had ended its time at the park. A short time after the article was published, details started to emerge on the plans for the parade.
The cars from the Stars and Motorcars Parade have started to appear in the park's promotional material, and the latest brochure for the resort contains a full two page spread featuring a picture of most of the lineup for what's now to be known as "Disney's Stars 'n' Cars". The brochure describes it as:
"It's a party on wheels! And a spin you'll want to be in!
All horns-a-honking, our superstar cars make their entrance in a musical cavalcade. No need to do a double-take, your beloved Disney stars will be there! And their 'rides' have been ultra-customised, Disney-style!"
The "event" will start in April 2009 as part of Mickey's Magical Party, which is this year's theme at the resort. It's widely reported that instead of being a parade through the park, the cars will make their way to several locations around the park for meet and greets with the characters, similar to way the Disney Characters Express does in the Disneyland Park next door (which, incidentally, as part of Mickey's Magical Party will be re-themed to become Minnie's Party Train).
Details on times for the event haven't yet been announced, however a recent promotional video for Mickey's Magical Party show the various stars making sure their cars are nice and shiny-clean for their big debut in April, which you can see below (starting around 27 seconds in):
Also unknown about the Disney Stars 'n' Cars event is what it will sound like. We all know the music from the Disney Stars and Motorcars Parade from when it was in Florida, however that very same music has been used at Walt Disney Studios Paris during their Good Morning Walt Disney Studios mini-parade/meet and greet in the mornings, so it seems unlikely that they'll use the same music again for the event. It's possible, but personally I think it's probably unlikely.
Now, whilst watching that video, you may have noticed another thing you may be familiar with as fans of Disney's Hollywood Studios. I'll talk about that, and other Walt Disney Studios Paris development/rumours next week.
