The elephant in a net itself is there because it's a relic of the Studios from an old store called "The Looney Bin", which was comprised of lots of outrageous props was located at the exit to the Backstage Tram Tour. After exiting the tram, guests followed Roger Rabbit's large footprints into the Looney Bin. There, they could play among the props in the Acme Gagworks or have their picture taken cuddling with Jessica or careening around ToonTown inside Benny the Cab. Other "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" props were featured prominently inside the Special Effects workshop.

The area later became an area with a theme based on the Goosebumps books known as the Goosebumps Horrorland Fun House, which opened on October 1, 1997. That has since been replaced and now the area has been split between a Monsters Inc meet-n-greet area and a gift shop, where the elephant in a net remains today.
