The stores along Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards take their architectual inspirations from some real life Hollywood landmarks and from time to time in this column, I like to look at some of these buildings and on Hollywood Boulevard is the Tailors to the Stars store where you can find a lot of Disney themed clothing. The teal exterior with lots of windows are a near carbon copy of a real Hollywood landmark and part of the many entrances to the Keystone Clothiers store.

The Tailors to the Stars store is based on the Municipal Light Water and Power building, which is located in the Lincoln Heights area of Los Angeles. The building was designed by Movie Palace Designer S. Charles Lee and the building is a classic example of the art deco architecture that was popular in Los Angeles in the 1930's. The building was designated a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument on August 5, 1988 to help protect this piece of history from disappearing.
