Have you had a chance to see this shirt, which features Goofy asking this famous question? It's humourous, no doubt, but the purpose of pointing this shirt out is to highlight the fact that most Walt Disney World parades are indeed in the afternoon!
One may ask, why? My best guess is that the afternoon is when the Parks are the busiest. Most people tend to go to the Parks late in the day and still into the night. Therefore, I suppose having the parades at these times makes it more convenient to most people. Unfortunately for me, and for a lot of other young families, this time slot just doesn't work for us. The afternoons are when we return to the resort to let our little ones rest and nap. It's also the hottest time of the day and so I like to let my kids have a break inside, out of the sun for awhile.
It's no doubt a bummer that my kids miss those afternoon parades in the Parks. I know they would enjoy them, but I also know that at their young ages, a rest is more important. Luckily, the Magic Kingdom does have one morning parade that will tide us over until the kids are older: the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Parade. It is absolutely awesome.
We always try to catch the 11:00am edition of this parade and set up shop right in front of the Castle. It has everything your little ones could want: catchy music, bright colours, great dancing, and all your favourite Disney characters! The parade even turns into a dance party and everyone gets a chance to come out onto the parade route and dance with their favourite Disney friends! There is nothing like dancing with Donald Duck with Cinderella Castle in the background. I don't think there has been one occasion yet where my eyes have remained dry for the entire duration of the parade. The pure joy I see in my kids' faces as they wave to their favourite characters does it to me every time.
While I can't wait for them to experience the other parades that Walt Disney World has to offer, for now, I have found our happy medium: 11:00am at Cinderella Castle.
