I wanted to take a break from talking about the Studios directly and talk about enjoying Disney's Hollywood Studios with others. As much as I love spending free time in the Studios, I find it much more fun to spend time in the Studios with some of my friends. Thanks to this web site, I've been able to meet lots of great people and spend time with them in the Studios and it's that sort of experience that makes for some real fun and the sort of experience that makes Walt Disney World such a fantastic place to be. I really enjoy sharing in the fun of being in the Studios with friends and definitely recommend it.
So if you're sold on the idea of spending time in the Studios with friends (or perhaps other people who are destined to become your friends after one visit), then you should consider coming down to Walt Disney World in December for Mousefest. Mousefest is a grand gathering of Disney World fans in one place and is being held in 2008 on December 11-15, 2008. It's more than just a meeting of people from Studios Central, but from many other online communities (of which I'm sure many of you also belong to) who all come down for one time of year to come together and have a great time. I've been attending Mousefest since 2005 and it's a real highlight of the year because it affords me the opportunity to make a lot of great friends and meet friends I haven't seen in some time.
To further entice you, Studios Central is once again a part of Mousefest and holding a few events that I wanted to personally invite everyone who is reading this column and frequents this site, regardless of how often you visit or if you post or not on this site. These events are the perfect opportunity to meet many of you readers and a great opportunity to not just meet me, but also the writers of your other favorite columns, including Glenn Sonoda of What in the World? and Jennifer von Hoffman of Jentasmic!. So let's get specific and talk about our plans for Mousefest.
To start things off, let's talk about what has become an annual tradition at Mousefest. Since 2006, Studios Central has been hosting a Star Tours group ride and last year we had over 100 people attend. The idea is to fill up an entire Star Speeder 3000 with fans of Star Tours and Studios Central and last year we filled up 3 different Star Speeders with fans and it was a terrific treat to be a part of and certainly makes a ride that many of us have ridden many times into a unique ride that is filled with other Disney World fans who "get it" and whom you may know quite well. It's a fun opportunity. This event will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 just outside the entrance to Star Tours in the early afternoon (exact time to be determined).
While Star Tours has become an annual tradition, a real highlight for Mousefest is the Saturday Night at the Studios event Studios Central will once again co-host along with MEI-Mouse Fan Travel. This truly unique opportunity allows each and every one of you to join myself and the staff of Studios Central for a private viewing of Fantasmic! on Saturday, December 13, 2008. We'll be escorted back stage and arrive in a private, elevated viewing area in the Fantasmic! amphitheater that features a wonderful dessert spread that includes an unlimited assortment of cake, fruit, cookies and more for you to indulge in while you watch Fantasmic! with your friends. We held this event for the first time last year and I'm really excited to be holding it again because of how much fun it was last year and the wonderfully positive reviews I'd heard from those who attended. On top of all of that, we were able to view the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights with virtually no crowds following the show and we hope to be able to do that as well again this year. If you'd like to join us for Saturday Night at the Studios, be sure to purchase your tickets by clicking here and getting tickets for everyone in your group.
It's shaping up to be a real fun and exciting Mousefest and I'm looking forward to meeting all of the readers of this site for the first time and saying hello again to friends I've met before. I know these events are centered around my site, but I truly feel like these events are worth your time (even if I didn't have a self-interest in them) and a genuinely fun time. I've said it before, but Mousefest is more than "just another trip to Walt Disney World"; rather, it's something you have to experience because if you frequent this and other Disney World sites, you will really enjoy spending time in Walt Disney World with other folks who share a love for all things Walt Disney World. I hope to see you all at Mousefest!
