Best spots to watch Block Party Bash

By now you may have actually had an opportunity to travel to Disney's Hollywood Studios to see the (relatively) new Block Party Bash parade or perhaps you still haven't had a chance to see it. Regardless of if you've seen or not, there are some great spots to watch the parade from and we'll spill the beans this week as to the absolute best spots to watch this parade from. Over the months that Block Party Bash has been open at Hollywood Studios, we've spent a considerable amount of time seeing the parade from a number of different vantage points, so here's our picks as to the best of the best.

Academy of Television Arts and Sciences

This is the default, fall back position, when I absolutely-positively need to see Block Party Bash and didn't have time (or the foresight) to plan and get into a better spot. Don't get me wrong, this is a great spot because there's so much room among the bronze busts to see the parade. It's a great spot to set up your video camera tripod if you want to record it or just get some nice breathing room if someone in your group isn't that interested in seeing it. It's because of all the space in this area that it's easy to snag a last minute spot from so be sure to keep it in the back of your mind as a last-minute option. It's also right where the Toy Story float will stop so you will get an excellent vantage point to see the parade from.

Near the tip board fountain

This spot will require the most amount of time to get the spot, but the fantastic part of this parade viewing spot is it allows you to easily exit the area and get to another attraction quickly before the rest of the people watching the parade do, such as Toy Story Midway Mania or any fo the attractions on Sunset Boulevard. It also affords you a great view of the lead float in the parade and if don't need to be right in front, you can sit on the edge of the fountain and have a seat or have your kids stand on the ledge of the fountain to get a better view.

Between Keystone Clothiers and Mickey's of Hollywood

Okay, it pains me to tell you all of this spot because it's my absolute favorite spot and I'm kind of afraid the "cat will be out of the bag" when I disclose it, but alas, I can't keep this good of a spot all to myself. This spot is located right in front of the entrance to Keystone Clothiers (the entrance that faces Mickey's Of Hollywood). If you look on the ground in the street, you'll see brass markings that kind of "corner off" the area. That is the extent to which you can watch the parade without being in the way of the floats. So if you stand right behind the brass line, you will have a completly unobstructed view and no one can sit down in front of you. Adding to the beauty of this spot is the fact that the Monster's Inc float will stop right in front of you, which makes for great interactions between you and the Cast Members, which is especially nice if you want to be a part of the parade when they need your assistance. You will need some time to stake out your spot in advance, but the Streetmosphere characters are usually on Hollywood Boulevard to entertain you in advance. Give yourself 30 minutes to ensure you can grab this perfect spot.

The "bonus spot"

I don't know if this is a secret, per se, or just not known by many people but there is one more stop to Block Party Bash after it finishes up on Echo Lake. As you may know, the parade exits the park between Star Tours and Backlot Express but what some guests don't know is the Bug's Life float stops just short of leaving and the Cast Members perform one more quick dance routine and then in essence let loose all of those nerf balls they have left over. So not only do you get to see some extra parade but you also get a much better chance at getting those nerf balls (what kid doesn't love them?). To get the spot, follow the parade as it makes it's way past Echo Lake and the area will open up substantially once the last float reaches the gate and then they will perform the last part of the show.

An important tip to keep in mind when choosing your spot is to keep in mind what you want to do after the parade. If you want to get to Sunset Boulevard, you ought to watch on the Sunset Boulevard side of Hollywood Boulevard because exiting the area after the parade is never easy with the swarm of humanity that ensues the conclusion of the parade. Hopefully with these tips, you'll be able to pick out a great spot to enjoy Block Party Bash from on your next trip to Hollywood Studios!
