Every week I’ll be answering any question about the Disney-MGM Studios from planning questions to “what happened to...” questions. So if you’ve got something you’ve been wondering about or simply need clarification, please feel free to email them to me (use the form below).
Someone told me about a program to spend the day with an Imagineer. Is this still available? How can I get more information? - Vicki
There is in fact still a program called "Dine with a Disney Imagineer" offered. It's currently offered at Artist Point (Wilderness Lodge) and the Hollywood Brown Derby at the Studios. The cost is $60.99 per adult (plus gratuity + tax) for an adult and $34.99 (plus gratuity + tax) for kids and you can make a reservation on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays at 11:30am. THere is a minimum of two people per party and you could be seated with other guests. You can book it 60 days before the date you'd like by calling (407) WDW-DINE.
I have not done this yet, but I do have a reservation for an upcoming trip in June so look for a report on the site about it in early June.
On the night we are going to MGM there are 2 performance's of Fantasmic. One at 8:30 and one at 10:00. It is the last week in August when crowds are supposed to be lower. Do you think we need to wait the normal 60-90 minutes to get in? It is an EMH night so I was figuring I could possibly walk in to the 10:00 show just a little early. Is that possible? - Cindy H.
Always, always, always, always, always go to the last showing of Fantasmic. The 8:30 Fantasmic will finish at around 9 and then there needs to be time to let guests out of the 8:30 show and for Cast members will take some time to clean up but you should be able to get into the theater by about 9:15-9:30 and you will be able to get some good seats. Keep in mind, if you see a huge mass waiting outside the theater and think "Oh, no!", keep in mind the theater can hold 7,000 guests so don't be discouraged.
Where can I get wristbands for Extra Magic Hours? - Lee
Wristbands distributed no earlier than two hours before the park closes to the general public at the following locations: Main Entrance, near the ABC-TV Theater and in the Rock 'n Roller Coaster Courtyard.
