I'm hearing that it will be condensed to a single attraction so that they can concentrate on getting it done sooner. Then again, Pixar Place opened with a single attraction but is still considered a "land"

I hear Cameron is having issues with them right now anyways. Maybe he'll just do one attraction and be done with them

Frankly, turning Avatar into a one ride attraction seems to make sense to me. I've never thought Avatar, while a good movie, had enough substance to carry a whole land. I've also heard through the CM rumor mill (totally unverified) that Joe Rhode, as primary executive Imagineer on Avatar Land, is having a challenges because he's accustomed to being the driving creative force in a project and not having to work within the confines of a predefined concept like Avatar.
For those unfamiar with Joe Rohde (one of my idols) he's been the driving creative force on projects such as Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest, Adventurers Club, Hawaii's Aulani resort and Norway in EPCOT to name a few....

Cameron is also a HUGE director right now who has stated that he will work on nothing besides Avatar from now on. Think someone on the caliber of Stephen Speilberg deciding to only work on E.T. movies! They would want a whole lot I'm sure.

If that were the case, why doesn't Cameron make his own Avatar theme park?

That's a good question and I assume the answer has something to do with money. Fox wouldn't fund it I'm sure.

I personally despise te thought if a whole land to Avatar. One ride would be ok. NOT a whole land.
I doubt cameron would open his own themepark A lot of legal issues to go with that.

Why against? Only ONE avatar movie made. It is NOT like Harry potter which had several books/movies. Think about it. In 10 years something new will come along. And BOOM. Who gets to pay for all these projects? WE DO. The cost of Disney prices has risen greatly over the years.
Disney needs to focus on a long term project. LOok at the MK and Epcot. Some of those rides/theming have been there for YEARS.
I know several people in SoCal where I now live who won't by annual passes any more because of the cost. Keep in kind a SioCal resident can get payment plans on annual passes. The deluxe pass w parking is now 649.00. Many of Disney"a customers are going other places. Vegas, Hawaii, Europe, and other Places.
Disney itself needs to look at long term. Avatar is a good movie. But NOT great. It is of lucid dreams.
Disney needs to focus on a long term project. LOok at the MK and Epcot. Some of those rides/theming have been there for YEARS.

The problem with your theory is there is already 2 more Avatar Films for sure on the way with a 4th film already being talked about as well. In 10 years Avatar will probably still be around.
Does that make it a better fit for Animal Kingdom? No

I would quite you darth but on my phone. Yes I am aware of the future Avartar movies. ........ BUT NO ONE knows if they will be a success or not. NOT many sequels are great IMO. Also history of movie sales show that Feel they are jumping the gun here.

I just have the feeling that Avatar doesnt have the staying power of Potter or Star Wars. In 10 years, no one will care

I feel Avatar was a very good but not great movie. The graphics were amazing but the story line was not at all innovative (Pocohontas and numerous others have had the same/similar premise). Not sure where they can go in the next movies to keep our interest and, unless they develope more "meat" in the story line, the grpahics alone won't be enough to carry a series of movies let alone an entire land at AK. Time will tell if the movies and Avatarland pan out... Personally, I would prefer something other than Avatarland but maybe I'll be wrong about the staying power....
