June 15th Recap -
Wow! No theme parks today. We fizzled out a bit tonight. We had planned to take the Tron-o-Rail over to EPCOT tonight, but instead we spent more time at the Polynesian Reosrt. Afterwards we drove back to Saratoga Springs and took a leisurly walk around the resort. This is a beautiful resort and its very well landscaped.
Our morning/afternoon at Downtown Disney was nice. It was a bit more crowded than I had anticipated. It was Noon when we got there and the World of Disney was packed. I was dodging other guests like a running back through a defensive line. Shoulder pads and a helmet would have been helpful.
One other observation about Downtown Disney and the rest of the Walt Disney World for that matter. I don't know what it is, but it seems to me there has been a drastic reduction of air conditioning in gift shops, hotel lobbies, restaurants, etc across property. Now, I'm all for conserving energy, but I truly believe Disney has tipped the scale on conserving energy and now it's just too warm in these common areas. When you walk into a gift shop to try and cool off and you feel little difference in the temperature it seems to me it's too conservative. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? I think Disney has taken too much of a cost-cutting approach with air conditioning and energy costs. I've been coming here for years and can remember saying how unbelievably cold it was in the common areas. Now, it's not even close. Just my two cents.
Tomorrow we are waking-up early and heading over to the Animal Kingdom for morning Extra Magic Hours (8:00AM). We'll probably come back to the resort in the afternoon for a swim. Tomorrow night we don't have any plans so we'll probably go wherever the wind may take us.
More to come!
