hmmmm... good question, yulilin!!! It doesn't say "exclusive", though it does allude to that..... I bet (like many other sites - Facebook, classmates.com, etc.) base membership costs nothing but to "upgrade" to get first dibbs at new pins, news, etc., it will be $50 / year.

I guess the desirability would depend on what they're willing to cough up for the money. If it's like the Tokyo Disneyland's "Funderful" club where they hold special shows and events and things throughout the year for the members, then it might be worthwhile; but if it's like some of these "events" where you're basically paying for the privilege of getting in a lottery to buy some more stuff, then I pass.

I don't think I'm overwhelmed. While the D23 magazine sounds pretty cool, I'm not sure it's $16 cool given it doesn't seem there's much newsworthy in it. I'm also guessing the D23 membership will be pricey given the $16 quarterly D23 magazine is part of the membership price. Just doesn't seem D23 will be offering much I'm really interested in but maybe, once all the details of D23 are revealed, I'll change my mind....

The problem I have with this whole club thing is that the club they had in the '90s didn't last. You got some discounts here and there along with a magazine, but as with everything Disney it gets expensive and they give up on it. The Disney Movie Rewards program has lasted longer than they originally planned to keep it. It's just a matter of time when they finally give up on that too. I know that they have said a date for when the DMR program ends but they have also extended it once maybe twice already.

that is what usually happens with the clubs that disney makes! I don't really know why they do this it seems like people don't like to pay to be in a club for disney to buy more stuff!

The FAQs on the site have stated that December 31st 2010 will be the end of the program.

Well, if this is all that it is I'm a bit underwhelmed. We should be getting these perks as AP holders. I'm not sure if I will join. Give me studioscentral.com, give me Mousefest, give me the Disney community at-large.....I'm not sure about this membership.

I agree with you 100%, I can buy the magazine at Barnes & Noble, I'm not going to California for the convention and even if I was I could just buy a regular ticket, they're only given you a $& discount, regular tickets are $37 and with membership is $30.
Or maybe I want to pay $75 so I can buy a $850 pen ?!?!?!
They better have something else, because if this is it I see very few people interested.
Maybe give 75% off the MNSSHP or MVMCP, or substantial discounts on all type of tickets. We'll have to just wait till noon :|

I'm not especially into having Disney collectables around taking up space in a drawer or collecting dust on a shelf just waiting to be knocked over by one of my 5 hyperactive cats! Won't be travelling to CA for the event... Unless they cough up something more enticing than what's on the gift membership, I'm gonna pass.

Hmmmm.... the countdown website has negative numbers so it looks like they should have announced already. I signed up for email alert a while ago but no email yet. IMO, I think they're just trying to build up suspense for something already leaked out!

Well, the WDCC Collectors Society is $60 a year, so I suppose this isn't outrageous. I do hope there is more to membership perks wise than what they have announced so far.

me too, they're offering an advance screening of Up, I can wait too see it with the rest of us "mere mortals" :roll: the expo does look like something I would like to attend, I just can't make the trip to Ca. maybe next year they'll do something here. And all of the section with the "latest news" I already knew all that.
