Now at work that screen didn't have the option for me to enter my email "to be the first to know" but at home does (home is a better computer).

I'd say it would be "23 more ways to take guests' money", but that would be mean. :D

This could be the long awaited awards program for Disney fans or passholders. If it is, it wouldn't surprise me if it comes with an annual fee. Think Disney Fan Club.

That's what I was thinking, like an exclusive fan site, we'll have to wait and see. :notamused:

Disney - (1/13/09) The latest D-23 update claims that the whole initiative came forward last year when a Disney fan berated Iger over the fact that the company only caters to the casual Disney park fans and has abandoned the more dedicated intense long-term Disney fans. If the rumors hold true, people will apparently be asked to pay about $100 a year to become part of this new club which will be offered a bunch of new exclusive merchandise opportunities as well as setting up 1 or 2 fan events at the parks a year, with the first to take place in Anaheim.
As for the origin of the number 23 we still dont know for sure but it was also pointed out that WED officially became Walt Disney Imagineering in 1986 and the shareholders changed name of Walt Disney Productions to The Walt Disney Company in 1986 as well, making each name 23 years old. As for the March 10th date some wonder if the details about the new club may be revealed along with the rerelease of Pinocchio on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 10th.

Dave Smith is now involved (Has been apparently since the beginning), so it's a historical situation.

It has to be either the formation of The Walt Disney Company.
Song of the South is 23 this year.

An interesting theory someone had was that 2+3=5. A fifth gate maybe?

I was at MK last night and they have the AU23 Poster up in a few locations now, which really ticks me off because I, for once, am stumped.

I meant when it was last available to the public. Completely worded it wrong.

Well the frontrunner for whatever the hell is going on of course seems to be the formation of the company. But that happened Oct 16th, 1923. Why celebrate it so early (I know, it's Disney we're talking about).

I did some searching. . . 1923 was also the start of the Alice shorts.

Now, before you go crazy, yes I realize that the treasures collection has seen a release of these. But only 10 of the 57 (or is it 56?) were released on the collection. Could we be seeing a new release of all of them?

I think this pin really points to some sort of fan club thing as being the meaning of 23.

It's the new way they will be selling pins, in jewelry boxes. Oh this will bring about a whole new way to tease the better halves relationships. . .

Hm. A fan site that I've never heard of. That randomly comes up with this? I know things get leaked but where did they get this from?

From the wording associated with the flyer posted on StitchKingdom:

"Here it is, folks! Straight from the insert booklet to the Platinum Edition DVD of Pinocchio (which will be released on March 10), Jiminy Cricket chirping in on D23, the Official Community for Disney Fans (whatever that means!). A review of the DVD coming soon, but, can you blame me for stopping writing one to share this?"

the person posting rec'd a review copy of Pinocchio that had this in it. Either Disney planned the leak (not beyond the realm of possiblility) or they forgot the info was in the DVD (less likely in my mind)....
