Due to transportation constraints, we're trying a trip w/out a rental car YIKES! I changed our ADR for dinner @ Boma to lunch at Tusker House. We have 2 adults and 2 kids. Was this a mistake?

I LOVE tusker house. I ate at Boma and wasn't as impressed. I had heard such good things about Boma, yet wasn't that overwhelmed by it....it was good, just not great.

Tusker House, on the other hand, is wonderful. LOTS of selection and very interesting dishes. I could eat at Tusker House every day.

I haven't eaten at Tucker OR Tusker House... and I like Boma a lot.

I think it's a win / win.

Awesome! It seems as if we can't go wrong. I am always up for something new, so Tusker House it is.

Thanks for all the info and Eric thanks for the link. I will check it out, however, you must know that I feel a bit as if I am cheating...I've never listened to another podcast other than "the boyz" (WDWToday- since episode 9.)

Boma is my favorite place in the World to eat, so that gets my vote

I love Boma and would vote for it. I didn't have a sanitary experience when I was at Tusker House and I sure that influenced my opinion and lack of appitite that evening. Having said that I am sure that the food being caked on the "clean" plates was a one time mistep (hopefully), and that I would try this place again to see if my opinion changed.

Thanks for the heads up. I will check for cleanliness...having worked in several restaurants and being a bit of a germ-a-phobe I take your statement to heart.

Boma is an all time fave of mine too! I hope we like Tusker House 1/2 as much. I have to admit I am a bit nervous but excited about trying something new.

My friend ate at Tusker and loved it but he likes everything. We ate at Boma in Sept. and like Quick said...it was good just not awe inspiring. my oldest and my wife didn't like it. but they are picky eaters.

Quick gives good advice. he warned us about the lands revolving restraunt...and he was right. blah. i don't know why they don't go either 4th of july theme with corn on the cob, ribs, burgers(sliders) bbq anything etc. or change it to totally green tofu/health food restraunt.

We did it! We went to Tusker House. My husband loved it more than Boma...as I said in another post, food wise I think they are fairly close. I thought the main courses were better at Tusker House, but I thought the soups, salads & deserts were better at Boma.

Now, however, let's talk price. You can go to Tusker House for lunch (same food as dinner) and pay $19.99 (A)/ $10.99/child. Boma does not have this option; they only have dinner $29.99 (A). If you are on the meal plan the price might not matter. There is also the convenience factor. If you're using Disney Transportation it is easier to get to Tusker House then Boma.

Bottom line you have two fab choices, you really can't go wrong. Enjoy!

First off this is not a rumor, The Tusker House in Animal Kingdom near Kilaminjaro is closing to become guess what? a buffet. This was one of the greatest restaurants in my opinion. You could get good food fast in the morning or night. Now as with other disney things it is closing for the kiddies. Now the already buffet with bussiness Donalds Breakfastorous is closing to become a counter service. So why switch the two? In my opinion this is just a switch for the worst.

Its been a buffet for some time. While I don't think its on par with Boma, its pretty good

I liked Tusker house but thought Boma was better. Comparing the prices, I would probably end up going to Tusker House.
However, if you have a larger budget than a college intern, I would definetly recommend Boma.

We love staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge and have eaten at both Boma and Tusker House. However, on our last trip I got sick and had to watch everyone else eat. It just was not worth the money when I could not even eat but 2-3 bites of food . We go again in December and will have to do a more detailed comparison. From what I recall, everyone in our party seemed to like Tusker House better. The atmosphere and food presentation seemed more inviting at Boma. However, I think it is the resort that contributes to the beautiful atmosphere.
