More dates have been announced for the 2008 Pirate and Princess Party.

January: 21, 26, 29
February: 2, 5, 9, 14, 22, 26
March: 1, 6, 11, 14
April: 1, 4, 6, 11, 16, 23, 29
May: 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 21, 26, 31
June: 4

I'm curious what everyone thinks of the number of dates offered. I personally feel there are a lot of dates...probably too many. I also feel as an annual passholder that the value of my AP has diminished since I can't use it the evenings of the party. Between Very Merry, Not So Scary and now this I'm noticing a trend of evening parties dominating the Magic Kingdom schedule.

They're just trying to get some more $$$ and P&P is the best way to do it. Clearly the thing makes money.

I'd have to see the amount of AP discount nights because i know for MNSSHP & MVMCP, the amount of AP discount nights has been cut in recent years and this year it's like down to just a couple.

Holy crap. And I can get into them for 20 bucks a night.

April-June I can see them doing that because the lose of Grad Night to the Studios. Same thing with Night of Joy? Whenever it runs, I don't pay any attention to that so I don't remember when it is. Either way, they gotta figure out a way to keep their figures up park attendance wise to cover for the GN lose, so this is one reason for them doing it.

That's a crazy number of nights! Between P&P, Mickey's Not So Scary, and Very Merry, the Magic Kingdom is going to regularly closing early - what? - year round except summer, Spring Break/Easter week, and the week between Christmas and New Year's?

I'm glad that it will be running in May though. I attended the first week of February this year, and, while I really enjoyed the fireworks and parade, I was freezing my ....... tiara off! :queen:

I went last year to the pirates and princess party. I can tell you its proably the worst of the after parties. The parade is beautiful and so are the fireworks but after that theres nothing to see other than meet Jack Sparrow. When I went March 1 which was a friday the party was empty and I mean empty. I just don't understand why so many dates because if its the same junk being offered as entertainment its not worth going again.

I think they're still trying to figure out a good time of year to have it. Hell, I won't be surprised to see it run August-end of Sept (Change to MNSSHP) then pick up Nov 5th-End of Nov. next year for another test.

I agree. There was a sense of aura to MVMCP or MNSSHP because they only happened on a few select evenings a year so it required planning to go then. These days, you have to plan to go during a time of year where there ISN'T a special event going on.

What I thought was sort of a gyp was that, for the MVMCP, they showed the regular Wishes fireworks right at the end of the regular day, and then the special Christmas fireworks later. For the P&P, they don't do the regular Wishes, so you just have no fireworks for the day unless you paid for the party.

The whole concept is bogus. Pay extra money just to meet extra characters and spend a few moments in a near empty park? It may sound nice on paper, but Matt is essentially right. Disney is getting more of your money. What a dupe!

We went to one last year and enjoyed it. While the parade could have been better in theming of the floats..we liked the parade.

The fireworks rocked. The music/narration was wonderful. To me these are the best MK fireworks...much better than Boo To You Fireworks. While the fireworks were good, the music/narration was not something I especially cared for.

To me the MK fireworks are ranked....

1. Music & Mayhem (Pirates and Princess Party)
2. Holiday Wishes
3. Wishes
4. MNSSHP...I'd rank it lower if I had more choices.

I think P&P is worth doing at least once. Beyond that? Eh, I'm not sold. I think MNSSHP has the most incentive to come back year in and year out (it's the only place really where I feel comfortable dressing up in a costume as an adult).

I'm in agreement here.

There's not much in the way of extra cost here for Disney. Certainly not $30-$50 dollars worth per head.

I think they'd be better off in the long run if they just included this as part of the regular admission.

Clearly a marketing gimmick like now that Mickey's name is associated with the party, the crowds will flock to the party
