I will post some pics for you later today if I can of what it looks like now. You can see Cat. Canyon from NY Street.

I hated the Studios when it first opened. I told my parents never to bring me back. Only a few years ago(2000) did I make a return after my friends told me it was much better.

I wasn't alive when it first opened  Though, I did find it VERY boring until they added the Tower of Terror, and my favorite ride on WDW property, the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith :!:

 you weren't born then? Are you sure you're tall enough to ride Tower and Coaster.... we opened in 89, making you *thinks* 14 or younger? :D I feel old :)

That's irony for you, eh?

Regarding the new NY Street cutouts, I read on WDWMagic it could be San Francisco & Chicago. Personally, I don't think San Fran has a skyline I could pick out easily. Oh well, still good news to hear something new could be coming.

Ahh! I thought it opened in 1981. Duh, sorry, a little brain fart there. Yeah, I was alive when it opened then, lol. Though, I still would have been too young to remember it THAT clearly if I went at all. I am not sure if I even did until the last 5 years or so.

P.S. - Yes, I surpassed the height requirement many years ago!

Haha, yeah. This was a major milestone in my lifetime; to surpass the Walt Disney World minimum height requirement for the E-ticket attractions. Though, it was A LONG TIME AGO!!!, I'm not just some little kiddie here, people!

EPCOT was opened in Oct '81 if I remember correctly.

As with most parks over the last decade or so, they weren't much when they opened. AK is a good example. I didn't visit it until 2001, several years after it opened.

More info on Chicago & San Fran from WDWMagic...

Quote

A San Francisco facade is to be built near to the Hunchback Theatre area, and a Chicago skyline facade near to SciFi Diner area. The San Francisco facade is planned to be mutli-layered to recreate the famous hilly look.

With all this possible mixing of skylines... are they going to change the name of the area? IT won't just be NY Street anymore.
