I'm still preparing for my March trip. For the first time I am an AP holder and I'm trying to decide if the Disney Dining Experience Card is worth while. It looks good, but there are times my family and I don't eat too much. I was wondering if anyone has used this or has an opinion.

Matt and Kim, I need to know what you think! :study:

If your family doesn't eat much, you may not want to do it. I guess it also depends on if you go a lot or not. I bought it one year (I only get there once a year), because we had a lot of family with us and went out to eat a lot (which we don't ususally do). It was worth it then.

The next year I didn't get it because it was only me and my son. And my son hates to do to many sit down meals because he feels that it takes to long and he could be enjoying the park instead.

The card is good in a lot of places, but not everywhere. You can get a list of places on the Disney website.

But if I lived local and went all of the time - I would get it. You have to determine if the 20% is worth it and if the savings will be at least the cost of the card.

I agree with Maureen. It really depends on how much you eat out and/or drink alcohol. Hey those over charged beers add up

For us the DDE is definately worth it! I refuse to eat counter service the whole trip b/c we need the slower pace of a sit down once in a while and the kids seem to eat healthier at a full serve restaurant. (ALthough lately the kids menus are not that great either for my picky eaters but that's another thread LOL) We never ran into a problem using it at any full service place but I know there are a few that don't accept it (I think mostly non-Disney owned places like Wolgangs)

We actually broke even after about 3-4 sit down meals, so it does make a difference! If SWW happens in May  , and you have another trip I would definately say go for it!

We did the DDP last trip and DDE previous trips. Personally we'll stick with DDE. DDP was good but too much pressure to eat all the time.

BTW...great tip I learned in August during an adult only trip....the DDE card is accepted at the pool bars for alcoholic beverages! :woot: (And I'm pretty sure the hotel lounges too)

Not sure if this is ok or not! Sorry Matt if it's not!

Here's a link to the restaurants that participate:

http://www.allearsnet.com/din/dde.htm

Also, make sure you order it early. It takes a while to get the card in the mail. Worse case senario, you can get a printed copy at guest services but it can take a while and be a pain.

Thanks for posting the link Kim.

The biggest problem for me with the DDE card is remembering to use it. I can think of a few times we got up after a great meal and it dawned on me that I forgot to use the card. :wha:

The card pays for itself pretty quickly and like Maureen said, the more sit down meals you eat, the more reward you get from the card.

The plan for this year is 9 Days in March, 3 in MAY..... hear me Disney, MAY!!! and hopefully 3-4 days in October. So I am leaning towards getting the DDE card. We do enough sit down meals that it might just work out in our favor.

Thanks to the Queen :queen: for the tips. We are much the same way about being on the parks and eating, but also like Figaro, we like to take some time to slow things up with one good meal a day. Lunch and usually breakfast are free for alls though.

I just ordered the DDE since now I am going on many cocktail trails around the MK resorts, and I don't feel like spending that much money on drinks!

I've pulled the trigger too. Now I too will get 20% off my drinks  .... I mean , ...great I get 20% off the meals for my family.

With the way things are planned out, this should really work in my favor. Thanks for the info gang!

Please be sure to let us know when and where to meet for our free drinks. I know you'll be glad you have your DDE card. I suggest you try Victoria and Albert's if you have a special occasion. You can pay for your DDE card all at one sitting.
By the way, it's good at the Pop Century Resort and others. It's well worth the expense. You just need to come down here more often.

I just got mine and I already saved 5 bucks buying drinks for people at the English Pub! :-) Definitely worth it!
