The monorail stations are set to get automated entry gates (similar to rollercoaster gates at boarding). The Magic Kingdom station should be first to be complete, by March 2005.

This will help with getting on and off the monorails quicker. Until now you'd be at the mercy of the CM to open it for you.

Are they larger type gate openings, or for individual people like the ones at RnRC?

I have no idea but I was thinking they'd be similiar to the gates they have now, only with the automated system, all the gates would open at the same time without need of a person to do so.

Update on this, the one side of the resort monorail (normally where the exit it) that is the ramp that leads you down to the MK, those are all automated now. They have the other side blocked off so those must be getting worked on. I do have to say they are pretty nifty. The dude pushes the button and all the gates open, and now they yell "ALL ABOARD!" to make sure you get on. lol. I was amused. I'm glad we're making it so the cast members can be even more lazy. j/k. :-) But they were pretty. lol.

So the MK one is complete? When I was down on my trip you could only board/exit on one side because the other was walled off.

One side is complete. The side for the resort side is complete where you would normally exit. The side that we boarded on when you were there is now all sectioned off. So they are probably finishing that side now.

I heard somewhere that they might reverse the entrance and exit queues kind of like what they're doing at IASW now. Is this true?

I think he means the entrance path would become the exit and vice versa

Ah. I don't know yet. I guess we'll have to wait and see for when it's done. I mean right now we ARE entering through the exit path so that could be how they keep it but we can't get up the other side so i'll keep everyone updated. :-)
