Well I was bored at work today and started looking at what's out there so with some help from my friends(*ahem*, that's you all), I can maybe start getting this trip going.

Dates: February 3-6, 2005
Airfare: Right now I'm 5,000 miles short of a free ticket on Delta. Prices for the weekend I want to go are high(~$190) so I'm hoping I can get enough miles to book a free ticket. I've got my trip in Thanksgiving coming up so I'll get about 3000 miles for flying, then another 1000 bonus for booking it online and so that'll leave somewhere in the ballpark of 1000 miles to make up in the form of getting the miles via my delta credit card.

Lodging: I have two good options. Disney has availability at Pop Century or AS Music for $55/night, which is good; however, Hotwire lists a hotel in the WDW area for $44/night and it's a 3.5 star hotel(4 stars is the most you can get). I think it's a DTD hotel and I'm mighty tempted to opt for that.

Tickets: *coughJilliancough* Seriously, I can afford it on my own if need be.

Feel free to post your bright ideas here :)

Some of the teams on the episodes of The Amazing Race that ran a few weeks ago managed to start out on legs of the race with no money and still travel between countries. Somehow I think you can figure out how to get to Walt Disney World.

Here are a few things you may wish to try:

Top 10 Ways to Get to Walt Disney World

10. Sell most of your bodily fluids to make extra money. Drink plenty of liquids.

9. Wait for one of the rare hurricanes that runs North to South and jump into it in the northeast in hopes that you land in central Florida.

8. Grow a beard and don a solid color robe in order to pass as the eigth dwarf. We went from 101 to 102 dalmatians a few years ago, so why not?

7. Hide yourself within one of the GPS treasure chests and hope that one of the people that look for GPS locations will transport you.

6. Enter contests to win trips. Hey, it works for me!

5. Decorate your home similar to Clark Griswold in hopes that Disney will choose to replace the Oswald family decorations with yours.

4. Snort pixie dust. No wait, that produced a completely different result for Robert Downey Jr.

3. Take experimental growth hormones and have them turn you into a giant capable of making the trip to Florida in a few steps. When you get there, be sure to thank Disney-MGM management for finding your lost sorcerer hat.

2. Convince Michael Eisner that running MGMStudios.org requires him to send you down to the parks once a quarter.

1. File a sexual harrassment suit against one of the beautiful Fantasmic! cast members and then settle out of court for the price of airfare, tickets, and a hotel room.

That would be an option for others but for me, I'd be countersued within minutes

Thanks for the offer Jeanne ;)

I realize I say alot of the time "Hey, I've got to do that the next time I'm down there" but clearly it doesn't stay in my head, so what things that I've missed over the years should I see? Here's what I can remember:

- Singing Umbrella
- Rope at Indy
- Leslie

For this quickie trip you have this week, I'm picking you up at Port Orleans Wednesday morning when I usually sleep in (if you don't wake me up first by IMing me) so stop mentioning the last couple of times you've been down, or I'm ditching you once we get to MGM :P

Small problem, that deal for the hotel on Hotwire is gone and now the best I can do is a 3* hotel for $55 but isn't there the value resorts for like $55? I figure it'd be better to stay there for that price. I looked on Mousesavers and all the codes are gone :santa: Anyone have any suggestions?

I haven't seen any new codes for a while. If you still need passes, PM me. I'll see what I can do.

The hotel situation is a little bleak as its either off-site for around $55 (possible DTD but I can't confirm till I buy) and onsite is going for $77, which is too much. However if I stay off-site I can't take advantage of EMH, which I actually care about now that they're doing the 3 hours at night option.

Thanks for the offer Jim....I always look for options that allow me not to have to beg dear Jillian for tickets :(

As for airfare, I've found a cheap price of about $100 r/t if I fly in the night before (2/2). That would give me a full day at the park on Thursday (as opposed to a half day as I had planned) and I think the savings come out to be worth it.

If you have some $$ saving tips, let me know! :)

An update, I've purchased airfare on Southwest (I now officially hate Delta) for Feb 2-6, so the trip is booked. After I get over the fact I hate Delta, I'll be much happier

Here's a Southwest tip. Get there early and wait at the gate. The first come forst serve seating allows you to sit anywhere on the plane. How many stops will you make?

Thanks for the tip

Zero. I'm afraid of flying so I can't handle flights that have stopovers.

Now all I have left to plan is hotel, tickets & transportation.
