If Dave Smith is involved, then that seems to point to something relating to the company founding in 1923. I like some historical idea a lot more than some of the assorted rumors I'd seen.

Well the frontrunner for whatever the hell is going on of course seems to be the formation of the company. But that happened Oct 16th, 1923. Why celebrate it so early (I know, it's Disney we're talking about).

I did some searching. . . 1923 was also the start of the Alice shorts.

Now, before you go crazy, yes I realize that the treasures collection has seen a release of these. But only 10 of the 57 (or is it 56?) were released on the collection. Could we be seeing a new release of all of them?

Maybe, but this seems all cloak and dagger for something that only the most devoted fans would want. Do we even know how many of the Alice shorts survived? They only found 13 Walt produced Oswald shorts for that Treasures release. And Disney wasn't always meticulous about keeping items from their earliest releases. Rumor/Legend has it that many studio artists used the tunnel connecting Ink and Paint to Animation as a slip and slide with the cels from releases like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs serving as sleds.
