I visit the ABC Commissary pretty much every year, as the free dining plan obliges me to take in a counter service meal at the Studios (otherwise, I'd usually go to Sci-Fi or 50's.) I continue to try different things there, in the hopes that one of them will stand out--this year was the chicken curry's turn.



On the upside, it wasn't too spicy, and on the downside, it didn't have a great deal of flavor besides spicy. There also wasn't a huge amount of chicken--mostly rice. I don't think the Curry House franchise has anything to worry about.

The chocolate mousse was good enough, but on the whole, they really need to put a little more work into the food here. It's probably wrong that the most compelling reason to eat at the ABC is still the air conditioning.

As for counter service, in general I prefer the Backlot Express.

I'm surprised you didn't like the curry. I liked it and thought it was good and while not a treasure trove of flavor, it was very different than the usual fare and in terms of curry, not a bad choice.

It wasn't terrible, but it just didn't seem to have a lot of "curry" flavor to me. I'm mostly used to Indian and Japanese curry, so maybe that's the issue. I always wish they'd bring back the pita-ish things they used to have at the place that used to be the Flatbread place. Those were really good.

So far, I guess my first choice for counter service food at the Studios is still Starring Rolls, but then you have to cart the food over to ABC if you want to eat in air conditioning, which is sometimes too time-consuming.

I would go to Backlot if they had something besides the usual hamburgers/hot dogs--they have some good air conditioning as well.

Well, it's fairly limited; I always get the egg & cheese bagel with Sausage. On the old dining plan you'd get two beverages, so you get the same Nescrapé (not a typo) as everywhere else, but the OJ is a good addition. My daughter liked the fruit cup.

I just stick with the burgers at ABC, for some reason i find them better than at Backlot Express, even though i honestly think they are cooked the same way....

But top choice for my for Counter Service is Pizza Planet

Never eaten there (made the mistake of heading over 30 minutes from Park Close), but heard it's pretty bad pizza.

We eat there a lot and while the food is never outstanding by any means we still enjoy it. When we've been there it has never been crowed and the service is quick and friendly. Sometimes that alone is enough for a 5 star rating for me. Besides curry from a fast food resturaunt? Just be thankful you did not need to airlifted.

I've never been real impressed with the menu choices there any way. I haven't eaten there in years.

ABC Commissary is actually one of my favorite counter service eateries in all of Walt Disney World.

to me, the Studios has the worst CS in any of the 4 parks. hands down. I don't like the Commissary or the Backllot Express.

I think i can agree with you there. I've never had a bad food experience at MK, or Epcot. Animal Kingdom one time, but that is bc i ate to much and it was really hot..... As for the Studios Backlot always disappoints me Commissary is just ok, but not impressive. Which is why i like Pizza Planet the best. I know it's not the best Pizza in the world, but i feel it's the only place where i know what i'm getting, and closets thing i get to my money's worth, Counter Service wise at least

I've never been thrilled with the Commissary. It is very low on our list of choices, right next to Sci-Fi.
I'm trying to think of the last "great" meal I've had at the Studios, and am coming up with little above "average." Brown Derby and MM are both ok, Prime Time is decent, but I've always had really slow service.
We usually just grab light food at the park.. a turkey leg and chips, or (and I know there is no GOOD pizza at Disney) pizza and a salad at Pizza Planet. It's fast and cool in the warm weather. You can eat and be out the door in 20 minutes.

I've only had the Cuban and a breakfast sandwich at the Commisary, I wasn't impressed with either, although the Commisary did introduce me to plantain chips, which are pretty good. I'd go with the Backlot, the environment is much nicer.

I like the Studio Catering Company quite a bit. I was thinking about trying the ABC Commissary because of the curry, so I'll think a little harder about it when I go.

I've had the Chicken Curry at the Commissary several times. I think it is good but not great. I do think that it is one of the better choices at DHS, but unfortunately that isn't saying much
