The next year I didn't get it because it was only me and my son. And my son hates to do to many sit down meals because he feels that it takes to long and he could be enjoying the park instead.
The card is good in a lot of places, but not everywhere. You can get a list of places on the Disney website.
But if I lived local and went all of the time - I would get it. You have to determine if the 20% is worth it and if the savings will be at least the cost of the card.

For us the DDE is definately worth it! I refuse to eat counter service the whole trip b/c we need the slower pace of a sit down once in a while and the kids seem to eat healthier at a full serve restaurant. (ALthough lately the kids menus are not that great either for my picky eaters but that's another thread LOL) We never ran into a problem using it at any full service place but I know there are a few that don't accept it (I think mostly non-Disney owned places like Wolgangs)
We actually broke even after about 3-4 sit down meals, so it does make a difference! If SWW happens in May
We did the DDP last trip and DDE previous trips. Personally we'll stick with DDE. DDP was good but too much pressure to eat all the time.
BTW...great tip I learned in August during an adult only trip....the DDE card is accepted at the pool bars for alcoholic beverages! :woot: (And I'm pretty sure the hotel lounges too)

Here's a link to the restaurants that participate:

Also, make sure you order it early. It takes a while to get the card in the mail. Worse case senario, you can get a printed copy at guest services but it can take a while and be a pain.

The biggest problem for me with the DDE card is remembering to use it. I can think of a few times we got up after a great meal and it dawned on me that I forgot to use the card. :wha:
The card pays for itself pretty quickly and like Maureen said, the more sit down meals you eat, the more reward you get from the card.

Thanks to the Queen :queen: for the tips. We are much the same way about being on the parks and eating, but also like Figaro, we like to take some time to slow things up with one good meal a day. Lunch and usually breakfast are free for alls though.

By the way, it's good at the Pop Century Resort and others. It's well worth the expense. You just need to come down here more often.
