So, $60 is the cover price for 4 magazines, so the $15 difference gets you this gift and whatever other benefits they offer.

I keep saying this, and no one seems to pay attention to it.

And, with sales tax, it's actually more like $10.

That's a valid point. I want to see the magazine before I commit to joining the club. If the magazine is worth the subscription price, then joining the club is a good deal. I also suspect that as this unfolds, we will see more benefits than just access to collectibles and a yearly expo in Anaheim.

The assumption being that a person will buy every issue of the magazine and feel it is worth the $16 price making the membership a "deal".... While I'm sure it's well done and I would enjoy reading it, I don't collect magazines (previous issue gets thrown out as soon as next one arrives) or Disneyana so that's not enough incentive for me to purchase a membership.

I'm underwhelmed. It seems similar to those merchandising events they always hold, where you pay $80 for the opportunity to enter a lottery to maybe purchase some exclusive merchandise.

I'm sure the magazine is nice, but I'm literally reading magazines from almost a year ago, because I'm so behind. At least I got rid of some on the plane rides.

The website has apparently no exclusive content and frankly looks like it has all the same information Dave Smith puts out in those Disney Insider newsletters. The stuff they're selling ranges from expensive things that look like they couldn't sell them effectively on the regular website, to expensive things that look like they are only peripherally related to Disney.

I am interested in the Expo, but like everyone says, it's only giving you something like a $20-30 discount...which is considerably less than the $75 you'd have to pay to get it. I do feel a little bad for the NFFC, whose long-standing event will be somewhat diminished by this.

The only thing I think would be attractive about this, is if they in fact develop special show or events for the members. I think I can afford to wait to join until they give us more specifics--if it's the kind of thing where you have to try to be one of the first 20 people in the world to sign up to go, or enter a lottery, I may pass. I have a horrible track record at those.

Tokyo Disneyland has a club called "Funderful Disney" (http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/fanclub...lish/index.html) which always seemed like a decent arrangement. They get seasonal discounts, special merchandise and special events, and they manage to keep it under $35.

I would encourage everyone to check out show # 190 of Mouse Guest Weekly to be released Sunday, March 15th. On the show we will talk with Disney Legend Dave Smith, Archives Manager Becky Cline and Head of D23 Steven Clark. I think many concerns and questions Disney fans have will be answered in the interview.
