I looked for the thread about this but I couldn't find it.

Is Luxo, Jr. out and about now? Or has the whole thing been shelved?

Far as I know it's been shelved. The equipment is there for him but he's not physically there.

I was sooo lookiing forward to seeing him, too! I guess if they can't get Mr. Spell to work consistently (and it doesn't move), Luxo, Jr. is a much larger challenge.... :D

True. But one thing we all have to realize is that with LJ, they are trying to put the "power" of Potato Head, Sparrow and (When he worked) the Yeti, into a desk lamp. So there are bound to be huge problems.

At least if something goes wrong, LJ won't try to eat the tourists.

Clearly there isn't any rush to make him work even Mr. Spell, who also has been broken for months now. I've heard both Luxor Jr and Mr. Spell are on the same electric grid but neither appears to be operational anytime soon. Not sure if it's budget issues or a mere indifference.

I'm guessing mere indifference or budgeting priorities. While I can see where LJ would be complicated, Mr. Spell doesn't seem as if it would need all that much cutting edge programming, electronic grid repair or technology.

We were watching the Pixar Story on the WALL-E Blu-Ray, and the wall where Luxo, Jr. was scheduled to appear looks identical to one of the walls at Pixar.

I've just spotted something on Matt's photo update this week.

Oh the area that's allegedly reserved for Luxo Jr, there's a door. Above this door is what looks to be an access panel for something... Take a look at this photo:
http://www.andrewpoo...uxojr-panel.jpg

Here's the original: http://www.studioscentral.com/images/artic...09/IMG_4858.jpg

There's clearly some kind of removable panel there. Start making up thoeries for what could be hidden behind :salut:

There has been "stuff" there since we first started talking about Luxo, Jr. here. In addition to the access panel you noted, there are other signs they've had something planned there for quite some time. You can't really see it in the photos (and it's even tough to see in person) but the top layer or two of bricks on the "platform" below the door are made of mesh painted to look like bricks. Additionally, there is a circle of "brickwork" (you can see half of it to the right of the platform) that's mesh painted like bricks (probably for speakers).

Yes those "mesh bricks" are the speakers for the system. If you look closer through the mesh you can see the track system (lack of better terms) as well.

Is this a smaller Luxo, Jr that bounces around like he does for the Pixar logo or are we talking about a replica of the humongous stationary Luxo, Jr. on Pixar's campus?

This one is/was supposed to come out on a little platform and bounce around, interact with the crowd. At night, he would point his light at various people walking by.

Im sure Matt will have photos of the construction, but, there are walls up around Luxo's hangout that went up Friday (Im guessing) so it looks like he's finally ready for his debut.

Cool, I'm wondering when it will be finished...
It doesn't sound like it requires a lot of work, so perhaps in a few weeks.

The car is being refurbished. It will be back soon.
