For those that ride ST a lot or have been the spy, any consistencies of which seat is the spy? Like over at MILF it seems like 'That Guy' is always towards the middle front.

There's no consistency on the seat. I've seen people from the front all the way to the back row.But I do believe that the CM is the one that picks it.And this is why: my husband and I rode it the other day and the CM working the loading is a friend of my husband from when he use to work at Backlot Tour. Pure "coincidence" that my husband was the rebel spy for our ride??

I actually love this feature. We rode it multiple times and thought it was rigged. Then on our 4th ride, to our complete surprise, my brother's face was up there. I expect for tourists this is something they will remember for a long time.

My son got to be rebel spy one time when he had a new star wars gun with him. The picture had him holding the gun. We tried that two more times and it did not work again

My son was the spy the first time he rode the new ST and he still talks about it! We even had to get him the shirt
It really was one of those magical moments for him!
The CM's do pick...at least sometimes. We saw them doing it one time as we were waiting to ride. 2 of them were going through the screen shots asking each other "how about that kid?". They passed on the first & picked the second. (Not sure why though) Another time we had a private VIP group in our vehicle & I knew they were going to pick one of their kids....sure enough they did

I haven't been picked yet. I'm told you need to keep your 3D glasses off until told to put them on and be facing forward
