What type of rehab are they going to be doing to it? I haven't been in there in about a year.

I haven't been there for a while either, I'm sure there's a lot they could be doing to it.

Maybe an update to the final film. The film with Robin Williams & Walter Cronkite is old too, but aside from the bad early 90's clothing seen in the beginning, it's timeless(and hillarious).

Here's the latest news I have, subject to change at a meeting with the Animation Tour staff: Both movies in the tour are history. The new show will mimic the show at Cal Adv, with an 'Animator' interacting with Mushu on a screen. The 'Tour' portion of the attraction is scheduled to be a 'One Mans Dream' style self guided tour through who-knows-what. That's all I have for now.

Welcome to MGMStudios.org LegacyD!

Thanks for the info. I liked both videos. The first one was funny and the second one had very poignant moments from the best Disney films. Sad to see them go. I wonder if the portion where the actual animator comes out will also be cut. :|

If there's a good side to this, maybe the waits in between tours will be alot less. There was always a case of mutiny afoot if we had to wait more than 5 minutes for the next tour in my group :pirate:

More info on the rehab by WDWMagic...

Quote

The animation tour will be going down for rehab from Aug 30 - Nov 1 2003 for a major rehab.
Both theater shows in the tour will be replaced, taking the Robin Williams film and the classic film out and replacing them with one of the shows from the California version of the tour and also one from the Paris version. It is also getting all new carpet, paint.

The only new info here is a more concrete set of dates and news about it getting new carpet and paint.

I like the exterior look of the Paris building. Guess I will visit it on my next trip before they destroy it.

I'd love to get a copy of either of the videos shown before they get the axe. I think they're great. Guess I'll search Kazaa later....

I'll have to make sure to go see it a few more times and get lots of pics before then.

I was thinking about the Robin Williams/Walter Cronkite film and thought of some of my favorite quotes from it...

"I can even be Walter Cronkite!"
"I can make my legs reeeeeeealy long"
Robin Williams pretending to be a tourist and freaking out when he sees Walter, "You're Walter Cronkite....'And that's the way it is'."
Something about Tinkerbell being so bright, that it's like being in the presence of Barbara Streisand.
Hitting on the Mermaids while flying around Neverland.

Thanks for the welcome, gang. Okay, here's the latest on the Animation Tour changes:
The first theater will become a seating area where we will watch the animator interact with Mushu, who will appear on a large screen (this will be the same format as C.A.). This will be followed by a self guided tour (just as One Mans Dream is now - in fact, there is talk about making the cast members for these two attractions interchangeable) through the same area and sights that are currently seen on the guided tour. At the end of this tour, guests will enter the final theater area, which will be transformed into a how-to-draw area, very similar to Disney Quest. Guests will sit at tables, and attempt to copy the examples as they watch an artist at the front of the room. Just before this theater, there are currently multiple TV screens that show an artist documentary (cute film). These TV screens will disappear, and a doorway will be placed here, for guests who have no desire to draw circles. This will exit into the gallery.
The construction for this project is scheduled for end of August, but no date is definite yet. It will probably take 2 months to complete the work.
A five year plan suggests that the OMD and Animation tours will become one self guided tour. Hmmmm.......
The artists are happy that they might have two positions where they are required. The rest of the cast is not very happy that they are loosing to dated but endearing films, and an informational tour. Cast training requirements will be significantly lower.
That's it. As usual, andything can change on a dime, and only opening day will tell.

Thanks Legacy. I take it the Mushu part is somewhat like the intro film in Jurassic Park where John Hammond interacts with a video of himself in the beginning of the film

According to the Disney site:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/waltdisne...ndMoreFAQGrping

The animation tour will be open until Sept 14, then shut down.
