I had the chance to visit the parks yesterday, the weather was great and the crowds have slowed down slightly. Here is a quick update (with some links to photos).

I started out at Animal Kingdom where Expedition Everest is starting to take shape, with new rockwork everywhere. The mountain really is impressive. I want to volunteer to be a test rider(I'll wear a helmet  ), lets do this, Yeti!

On to the Studios

I decided to ride the GMR, since I haven't done it recently. This really is a great ride, and the Cast Members were really into their roles. The only thing that was missing was the fire effect in the western scene, which really should be brought back.

Lights, Motors, Action did not have any preview showings today (as far as I know). While in the area, I decided to take the Backlot Tour and noticed there were two jet skis in the LMA practice area, which is good news.

On the backlot, the new street sets are now complete, and the construction walls have been removed. It looks like they will decorate the interiors of the first floor, but for now just an old barbers chair sits in one of the windows. The only piece being worked on is the large outdoor backdrop on the now closed theater, where construction walls remain.
Also, the Singin' in the Rain umbrella is working, I tried it out to make sure.

Funny thing is, I already want to go back. 8)

Great report! I'm going to move your report to the Trip Reports board and give you the 2 points you get for posting a TR. Very well done

I love the pictures. I hope it isn't crowded when I go in May. I have a great idea using the Streets of America as a background for a photoshoot with my original design.

May (with the exception of Memorial Day Weekend) is fairly empty

Yup. May should be good for you, although with the 50th starting this yea,r the beginning of may, might possibly be more crowded. :-) if its around 05-05-05.

Good report!

Possibly on and around the 5th but aside from us Disney nuts, most people could care less, or re-arrange their plans. May should be the traditional quiet month...until memorial day that is.

any idea why they took down the SF scene they had up?
it wasnt the best, was it only a placeholder for a better scene?

I was wondering the same thing. You are probably right, they might be replacing it with a better version.

As of yesterday, the jet skis were in the water and the stunt drivers were practicing with the cars on the set of Lights, Motors, Action!

Picture: (look under green awning to see jet ski, kind of small but I had to crop it)
