Just saw on the news that the store will be closing. Not sure of the closing date but it joins a few others that will be closing as well.

With any luck though, that Apple rumor will come true.

Still, guess I'll have to find a new place to find rare things movie wise.

But the economy isn't really to blame for the closing, as I've said before. It's mostly because of digital downloads via iTunes on the rise.

That's a shame, I don't like record stores closing because of iTunes. If there is an album I'm looking forward to buying, I have to buy it in CD. There's just something about opening it up, looking at the booklet, and putting in a CD player.

Unfortunately my CD purchases are not made at the Disney Virgin Megastore....

I'm glad to see it go. Record stores are rather esoteric these days and overpriced record stores are even worse.

idk i found some decent deals there when they were having sales. I got a CD with 32 Elvis top hits for the price i would pay for 10 songs on iTunes... None the less i don't mind seeing the store go because it was so gosh darn big. I'd like to see them utilize that space more, maybe with multiple shops.

Oh and Indy Go to a local mall and try and find an F.Y.E. Store. I have found everything... except for the Star Wars: Droids and Ewoks DVDs... that i have wanted movie wise there. Plus they sell them slightly used too, so you can find a good deal if you don't buy new.

Yeah. I know of FYE. Dont really go to the mall though unless it's to Apple or Oakley. Mostly I just go to Best Buy. They have a decent selection of Disney DVDs as well.

Don't we want an ESPN Zone, not a Club?

Either way, I'm holding out for the rumored Apple Megastore.

Ooh Wouldn't that just rub salt in Virgin's Wound. Not only do they lose the store beacuse Apple is taking their market, but than apple comes and takes there store! Ouch

Anyways, I hope it doesn't bc Apple is already overpriced, mix it with Disney and we will lose quite a bit of money...

Neutral about the Virgin closing. I also like buying a CD, opening it up and having the insert to enjoy. I think Virgin found the overhead of a large store was too procey to make it worthwhile. I usually find esoteric CDs and movies on eBay. Sometimes I need to wait a while to find an item but the price is usually less than getting the same item at aVirgin (even with my DVC discount).

just read in wdwmagic that as of May 12 Virgin Megastore was closed. They had given a date of May 31 but moved it forward...
