The food is excellent, at least everything I had was! I plan to get there again before I'm done with my stay.

Much more formal feeling, but the food was better (now) than my last meal there in August. I think the menu is better. Also more expensive.

Check out the menu on allearsnet. It looks really great. Those pictures and the menu convinced me to make an ADR for 11/30. Looking forward to it.

I hope you enjoy it! The only downside, it sounded like they were out of some wines and such. But they had everything I wanted, so I was fine!

Yikes, those are some pretty steep prices. I had heard about the $12 cannoli, but this was the first time I looked at the full menu. Pastas START at $24? Wow.

It is high, even for WDW! But on the dining plan, I recommend it. I don't think I can recommend it otherwise, since the prices are so high!

That said, Alfredos wasn't too cheap either, and the food here is better. For value, Portobello Yacht Club is a good choice, IMHO.

Yeah, I know. That's what I usually tell people. But this seems to be another level. I mean, $24+ for pasta? $12 for a Cannoli? Alfredo's was expensive, but not THAT expensive.

I have to admit though, I'm a little biased. I really liked Alfredo's.

That makes sense. I wonder though, with prices like that if it will stay as one credit once they get the permanent restaurant open. Those prices are easily comparable with Brown Derby prices and the Derby is two credits.

The prices are 1/3 higher than I'd expect at Disney, pretty much across the board. BUT, at Alfredos, my lunch chicken milanese entree in August was like $20 or $22.00. It didn't include much, and it wasn't fantastic (but decent). The pasta also was around the $20 range.

If you want cheaper (but still good) pasta (or Italian food for that matter), Mama Melrose's is excellent.

I'll second the Mama Melrose recommedation. Good value and a nice atmosphere. My favorite of the MGM sit-downs.

I have not been there in a few years. Tutto Italia would still be at the top of my list so far, and Portobello - but I'll need to head back to MM sometime!

Of course, on the dining plan this year, everything is the same price for a 1 credit TS meal! Trails End or Tutto Italia, it doesn't matter. Next year, you have to pay the tip and an appetizer if you want one.

Yeah, I'm curious to see how it works out next year. With the tip and appetizer removed from the plan and the price only going down $1, it amounts to a huge price increase, percentage-wise. Upwards of 20-25%

I haven't been to Portobello, but I've heard good things about it.

Absolutely, it is a big change. If you eat at a restaurant where everything equals $70 for one person, that is another $14 added to your plan. I'd rather have seen the plan price go up a little, instead of having the servers likely take a hit.

There are still many people interested in the dining plan, and the deluxe. Honestly, it was way too much food for me on the free dining, it feels like I'm always trying to shove food down my throat.

I've had good meals at Portobello. They had a very good lunch Chicken Milanese, I think it's around $11.00, and then you can get an AP discount. About half the price of the same entree at Alfredos the last time I was there.

How are the portions here? I like pasta alot but would hate to over-eat and roll around World Showcase.

I regret not dining at Alfredos (wanted to try the Alfredo!) but I love Italian food.

holy cow! I should have read the review before posting. The restaurant looks fantastic. I wish I had some pesto/ricotta dip and vegetables right now (instead of the cookies I just devoured! :oops)

Portion sizes are ample, I'd say. The problem for me is that it's expensive (even for Disney)

What are you talking about? I think $15- for a few pieces of mozarella and some tomatoes is totally reasonable.

Thanks for posting this review Denise. I've made a dinner ADR for an upcoming trip in April and haven't tried it yet. It looks wonderful, and I agree..It's probably a good restaurant to include if you are going to be on the Disney Dining Plan since it is pricy and only uses 1 TS credit.
