I was just thinking about this earlier today, and Disney World has totally ignored South America, except for part of the Jungle Cruise.

In my opinion, both Brazil or Argentina are cool enough to deserve a pavilion at World Showcase.

Or South America would make a pretty cool new land of the Animal Kingdom with some kind of Amazon river attraction. (Then maybe the AK could finally have a decent water ride :) ) The Amazon Rain forests hold 50% of the world's animal species or something like that, and it seems kind of criminal to ignore.

They left out a lot of cool places in the Showcase. I wish there was an Italy Pavilion and I know a lot of folks who wanted and Israel Pavilion, neither of which have any presences whatsoever, except for italian restaurants, in the parks.

Last time I was in the real St Mark's Square, it was in Venice, Italy, yes. So I'd guess that Disney's slightly scaled down St Mark's Square is the main component of an Italian pavilion :)

Andy. Is it bad that I can name all of the WS pavilions in order from memory?

I think it was also a lack of stable economy in the 80s, as well as stable governments.

OR...

No one had a "family history" from there in WED Enterprises.

I usually start from Canada. Blame my sister for liking Off-Kilter too much. :)

Well in Mexico there is at least one reference to South America. Josť Carioca from Brazil, more specifically Bahia.

Indy (or anyone else...)-
Have you ever tried the margarita they sell in the stand across from (I think) Japan that's a something-ginger flavor? It sounds really good but I have yet to try it (I love ginger!).

I said "decent" water ride.

I think that Kali River Rapids is far too short and isn't very exciting unless your whole goal is to get soaked to the bone.

We typically start in Mexico as well. We do enjoy Off Kilter, and save the best for last; France, UK, and Canada.
