Anyone hear this yet? Sounds interesting. I love the idea of it being close to DC & to us. :)

I read this this morning as well. If you're a DVC member, it's another resort for you to go, and it's good since the ones in Hawaii and DL are further away than this one in DC.

I'm surprised they are going ahead with this before seeing how Hawaii does in terms of demand and such.

Well, I know Vero Beach DVC resort does well and Hawaii and DC have more tourist appeal as far as thinsg to do in the area than Vero Beach so they probably feel it's a given that it will be profitable....

The most likely scenario is that Disney was able to purchase the land at a greatly reduced price due to the economic downturn and could still wait to see how Hawaii does before the decide to move forward with the DC project or sell the land for more than they paid.

I'm no DC expert. Is this IN DC? or in like Arlington?

It's across the river from DC.

I remember reading a blog rant about how this new hotel isn't really close to any of the big DC attractions. Its also removed from public transportation routes. Any locals know if this is true?

I highly doubt it. We pretty much killed that idea here in Virigina.

It's in Maryland and there is no public transportation to DC frmo there. I imagine Disney would provide something like shuttle buses though.

Yeah, I agree with Figaro. Likely there will be a shuttle to the nearest Metro stop.

We went and spent a week in Hilton Head (will do trip report for points, LOL) at the DVC resort there... and on the way back spent 2 days in DC at a Westin. I would have enjoyed a Disney-level resort to stay and tour DC!
