A site not worth linking to since they would never acknowledge we ever report any news has posted the following....

Quote

We reported last week that no performances of Fantasmic! were scheduled beyond January 4 2012. We have now confirmed that the show will return on February 13 2012 with a performance at 7pm. No word yet on what will be done in the 5 week refurbishment period, but it is suggested that a lot of behind-the-scenes work on the mountain is required.

Interesting. I suppose that it's getting a lot more use now, BUT couldn't that have been considered when Fantasmic was barely playing at all?! That seems like it would have made more sense.

There has been rumors going around that disney was set to announce a complete overhaul/retheming of fantasmic

5 weeks does not seem to be enough for that

I suppose, if they kept the same mountain set, they could change most everything else with little impact that could fit into a 5 week period. Story, music, costumes, choreography, programmng of fireworks/music and narration could all be done and put together before pulling the plug on the current show using the 5 week down period for shake out, final rehersals and a set refurb.

I was considering planning a trip after the holiday's, but I couldn't imagine being there without being able to see Fantasmic. We usually go at least twice.

i've heard that one thing on tap is a complete replacement of the lighting system. apparently, the lights are so old, that they are having trouble finding replacement parts when things break.
