This video was taken last week during Mousefest and aside from showing a very funny new character (Buzz Ardman), it also features cameos from yours truly, Tinkerbell2004 and The Dark Lord of the Sith

It's funny to see the actor who plays Francis Floot, speaking with a British accent. I really appreciate you sharing this video. Do you mind if I share it with the Streetmosphere group?

I had heard that Francis Floot was no longer around, and I was really upset but glad at the same time. I thought Dewey (actor who portrays Floot & Ardman) was done with the theme park performances altogether so he could work with Wayburn Sassy full time. I'm soooo glad to see that he's still in the park and just as funny as always. I can't wait until I go back to the parks (after the holiday crowds) to see Buzz in person.

I still miss Francis Floot, and I still want Francis back in the parks. Until I meet Buz in the parks and judge for myself the quality of his character, I will hold myself reserved... or something.

"quality" is always #1 with the actor. I also haven't seen Buz so I cannot judge. I do think that the actor has a strong fondness for Francis Floot, since he has played him for a long time. And then is wasn't really his decision to make the change. I really hope to Francis Floot again. If we cannot, I hope the actor forms the same fondness for Buz.

Speaking as someone from across the pond, that accent is painful!
That aside, he is rather funny!

This makes me wonder what, if any, rights the actors hold for the specific characters. As I understand, they create the characters themselves, right? So I'm wondering if Francis could make appearances elsewhere. Not like in another park... but like as a sort of "act" at comedy clubs or that sort of thing.

I'm not quite sure. Remember, Francis was created to be an element for 1940's Hollywood, which is the setting of the park. It might not work if Francis was removed from his element.

But you see, the genius behind Francis is very talented. I'm pretty sure he could pull it off in any environment. Besides, a character being out of his element can be quite a humorous set up.

I'm sure there is some legal framework for Disney to "own" the character, since it was developed likely with the help of other Disney employees.

Maybe...maybe not. According to the lawyer that's on our Board of Directors for the 2009 Con-Galoosh who did research on this, Disney didn't register, copyright or brand in any way the name "Adventurers Club" nor any of the characters or scripts in that venue.... Perhaps it was an oversight for the AC stuff and they've done this for COH...dunno

the actor who plays both Buz and Francis has renewed his contract with Disney. He did ask them when Francis will return and they said that they didn't know.

I just saw Buzz for the first time today. It was the joke contest bit with a few other Citizens. By the third round when the item was "Hockey" (99 Hockies walked into a bar...) poor Buzz had nothing and was constantly stalling, but it was hilarious! I'm a Buzz fan now! Great stuff!

He's making the best of it, he still has a job and he's still dewey, which means he's still funny. We have to think of the positive.
