Remember the old BackStage Pass tour? I really miss it. The OMD attraction is using the last part of the original tour area. Just to the left of the OMD entrance is a set of doors that lead to a warehouse area that up until recently held the props and sets for the Dalmation live action movies. It was part of the walk through area for BSP. Word from a usually reliable source says that they will be installing sets from the new Haunted Mansion movie there, for another self guided tour. It's supposed to open in the next couple of months.

I'm glad to hear that this is finally re-opening. Now if they would only do something with the ABC Theater....

Beginning in early October, guests at Disney-MGM Studios will be able to get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Walt Disney Pictures movie The Haunted Mansion.

Located in Soundstage 4 on Mickey Avenue, the "Making of the Haunted Mansion Movie Attraction" will include sets, props and costumes from the upcoming movie. Visitors will be able to see the mansion's massive ballroom set, pipe organ, grand staircase, fireplace and more. Guests will also see costumes from the film, view a behind-the-scenes video presentation and learn about some of the techniques filmakers used to create the film.

While Soundstage 4 has been used before for beind-the-scenes attractions, this will be the first to open before the debut of the showcased film. The movie opens in theaters on November 26th.

Beginning in early October, Disney-MGM Studios guests will get a behind-the-scenes look at sets, props and costumes from the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures film The Haunted Mansion, which opens in theaters on Nov. 26. Located in Soundstage 4 on Mickey Avenue, The Making of The Haunted Mansion Movie attraction will include the mansion’s massive ballroom set, pipe organ, grand staircase, fireplace and more. Guests also will see costumes from the film, view a behind-the scenes video
presentation and learn about some of the techniques filmmakers used to create the film. Walt Disney Imagineering Show Producer Theron Skees said he hopes guests visiting the exhibit gain a new appreciation, not only for the technical aspects of the movie, but the rich story, as well.
“We want guests to leave [the new exhibit] with a feeling that it’s not just
the special effects and wizardry of the film that make it great; it’s also a great story,” Theron said. While Soundstage 4 has been home to several behind-the-scenes attractions, this will be the first to open before the
showcased film debuts in theaters. WDI Show Writer Jason Surrell, whose
new Disney Press book The Haunted Mansion: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies will hit stores next month, said guests visiting the exhibit will see familiar touches of horror and humor. “The [original] attraction and the film are a great balance of horror and laughs,” Jason said. “That balance is something the entire family can enjoy.”
