So I subscribe to every folder and get emails every time a new topic is posted to the boards. I rely on this to bring me back to the site any time a new thread is posted so that I can participate int he discussions here. For the last... oh I don't even know how long... I have been flooded with soo much spam from the site that I end up deleting all of the emails from this site and missing topics I would have loved to talk about.

Is there a plan to fix this problem? How is the site getting flooded with kiddie porn adds, computer program ads, mens health ads... and just about anything else you can imagine?

Whats up Mattie Cakes? :)

It's a problem that I honestly don't have a good solution to yet. The problem is the site software offered us a lifetime option back in the day so I bought it. Well, turns out to use their new spam filters, you have to downgrade to a monthly license that has a monthly fee with it. :(

Have you tried vBulletin forums? They're not all that great, and they're hella expensive, but it seems like that's what all the major forum websites are doing. I used to have it until I discovered that nobody really gave a care about my website, so I switched to a podcast that people still don't give a care about. :(

Invision is a reputable brand, it's just a matter of cost and logisitics. I hope to resolve it soon

It is especially annoying to get 5 or 10 emails when one person does numerous spams posts. I know some boards require a person's first post be approved before it's posted to minimize spammers.

I may have to go ahead and do that to help fight the problem.

Matt, do you need us to contribute to a monthly donation to take care of the fee. You have a great site and your fans here, should be able to help out. Let us know.

I'm willing to contribute also - either with labor (maybe helping delete spam posts, screening first posts to ferret out spammers) or financially. The numerous spam generated emails are more annoying than the actual board posts for me, anyway.

The problem with the current strategy is new people have to be approved and by the time I get to approving them, it may be too late for them to want to come back and post. Oh well, we'll see how it goes!
