I'm a big fan of this place and wanted to share a quick tip as well. If you're looking for a sit down meal but everything is booked, you can go to the Tune-In Lounge and sit down at the bar and order off the 50's Primetime menu. Obviously no Primetime antics but you can usually get a spot at the bar (ideal for solo travelers or groups of two) and you get the 15% off Disney Dining Experience discount as well.

Plus a generous selection of alcohol :thumright:

Ooh I didn't know you could order from the full menu. Good tip, Matt. I've been there once for an ice cream soda with my cousin. It's very cute, we really enjoyed it.

It's located to the left of the entrance to 50's Prime Time Cafe. It is a bar, but like I said, anyone can sit at the bar and order off the menu (or just get drinks).

Matt - I really appreciate you posting this. It's great to know. I'm not good at planning in advance and these days you need reservations. So we usually end up at Pizza Planet. And sometimes you just want some else and be able to sit down in a/c. I'll be there next week and I'll drop in.

True, but as Matt points out, there is a generous selection and the DDE Card applies! On a busy day that's enough for me.

Matt - wanted to let you know that I just returned, today, from Disney. We went to the Tune-In lounge each day that we were in MGM, which was most days. The Tune-In lounge was nice - no reservations - a/c - great ice cream soda - a nice break from the sticky HEAT.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your time there Maureen. It's a great gem and Colin and I usually spend our time together there  Guess maybe we should call it the MGMStudios.Org Lounge

What's not to like about that.... except you would have to change the name again in a few months  . It needs to be a MUST SEE for all official meets in my humble opinion. As I remember it, I owe Matt a drink.... C'mon DECEMBER!

If you are looking for a quick sweet snack, you can stop here and get a shake to go. The shakes are way better than the ice cream at Dinosaur Gertie's.

Snag yourself a chocolate shake with wheels and walk around the lake. I have never had to wait long to get one either. Double bonus for fast service. :)

Great point about the shakes tuberhead :) I will try that out next time I'm down there.

Speaking of To-Go. I was surprised to hear someone ordering drinks To-Go.

I've done that in the past. If I'm just there for drinks, I prefer to go into the MGMStudios.Org Lounge and order a few drinks then take them out to the chairs by Echo Lake to enjoy.

What surprised me was the 1 man ordered 4 drinks To-Go. How does the bartender know who those drinks are going to. If one of those people is a minor, isn't the bartender responsible?

Technically I think the rule at Disney is 2 drinks per ID, but when I asked for 4 drinks, he gave them to me. Most people, especially at Disney, are on the up and up. Besides, it's too expensive for kids to try to get drinks at Disney (at least it would be for me when I was under 21).

Tried this place out for dinner before the Fantasmic! dessert party--it was kind of a zoo. We still had to wait some for chairs to clear, and then we had to keep passing drinks back to people who couldn't reach them. The food was pretty good--we had the fried chicken--and they certainly weren't taking walkups at the sit-down side, so it was better than not getting in at all.

During meal times, the Tune-In does get crowded with people waiting for their table at Primetime but if you can snag a chair at the bar, you'll be all set. Glad you got to try it out Jeanine!
