Does anyone know if they'll do anything special on May 1st to celebrate MGM/Hollywood Studios 20th anniversary??
I know that another site has something in the works...maybe some of us that are local or are going to be here can plan something??

I do know that Mugsy will be on hand to celebrate.

As far as I know, nothing has been planned other than a "Hey, we had an identity crisis before we hit 20!" announcement.

I think they are gearing up for the 25th. . . they aren't about to make the same mistake again. See: EPCOT 25

I think Adam and Co., who organized EPCOT 25 are planning to do Studio 20 or something--I think I got an email at one time to that effect, but I haven't heard any other details.

Yes, I got the e-mail too, the registration I believe will start by the end of January...It's going to be Friday and Saturday 1st and 2nd. I was just wondering if anything from Disney was planned.

Question...

When does this ever end for "celebrations"? Why have one for 20 if there's going to be another for 25? With 4 parks, you're going to have anniversaries every other year.

I'm all for milestone year anniversaries, but, in my opinion... it should be 10, 25, 50, and then continue on the 25s.

[/soapbox] :D

I know what you're saying, but fans are becoming more specific to what they like. We're not just seeing fans of WDW anymore. We now have fans of specific theme parks, resorts, dining locatiions, and events.

That said...You need a celebration for each park to satisfy those fans. Those who are members of this site are fans of Hollywood Studios. I'm sure each of us would appreciate some sort of 20 year celebration to acknolwledge the parks entertainment and progress.

I honestly think that Disney is not going to spend tens of thousands of dollars to satisfy us members of Disfan sites... we're going to the parks anyway. We're going to go to the park on anniversary days, if only to say that we were there, and, if we feel strongly enough, we'll organize our own damn celebrations. Disney as a business knows that we'll keep coming back, no matter what, and I think to the average Disney Park guest, they really couldn't care less, other than a curiosity, and maybe buy a pin.

As for Studios progress, LOL, I think it was better 10 years ago than it is now.

Actually, I thought the huge sign and banners next to the Main Entrances for 100 Years of Magic was spot on.
