This week's question: The Carthay Circle theater shop is at the intersection of what two streets in the Studios?

The answer to this week's question is... Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue
Congratulations to acp, Cathy, Ward & MickeyMaz for guessing it correctly.

I call a foul! There is no such street called Highland Avenue that's on the Guide Map. All there is is Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard.

Perhaps not on Guide Maps; however ...

Well shut the front door and call me Francis.

But wait, if that's a street sign, and it's not on the maps, then where does it go? :?:

As I recall, if you follow it, you end up at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre. They open the path up after Fantasmic! performances. It goes round behind Theatre of the Stars and to the back of the amphitheatre on stage right.

So it *does* go somewhere, just not for most of the day

Not sure about that. I do know that the Fantasmic Dinner Package guests enter the long back walkway at Oscar's, up by the park entrance. I've walked it a couple of times, and never seen anyone join us from the direction of "Highland"/The Carthay.

After the show, they don't let us go back to Oscar's (Oh, if only they would! Much quicker exit!). Instead, we get dumped onto Sunset Blvd, right next to Planet Hollywood, to ensure we got the chance to shop one-last-time. ;)

I do recall coming out on Sunset, however I wrote that from memory and a quick glance at a park guide.. I had a vague recollection of coming out next to Theatre of the Stars, hence pointing out Highland Avenue as the "back road to Fantasmic".. or *from* fantasmic.. since I only ever saw the path open post-show. They don't open it for entering the show, just exiting.

I do recall there was one night we took that path and they were sending us out through a gate that led directly outside the turnstyles.

Click here for a map with labels showing where I mean

That's the path I was talking about, anyway ;)

Andy is correct, if you leave Fantasmic! through the exit on the right side of the theater, it eventually drops you off on Highland Ave and Sunset Boulevard. 9 out of 10 times, however, the "street" is used by CM's to get on or off backstage.

Yes. It is a backstage pathway, after all. But letting the entire contents of the Fantasmic! amphitheatre leave via the one exit path would be torture (it's still torture with two exit paths), hence they use the backstage path, which is kept show-ready and doesn't have the usual backstage stuff lying around.

Technically, they could use the area behind the Tower to exit Fantasmic! too if they really needed to, bringing people out by RnR Coaster, however this route definitely isn't show-ready, and has other paths leading to other places. Having said that, it looks like they used some of that area for ESPN weekends, although I'm guessing you couldn't get as far around the Tower as the area actually goes...

This past December we had a private Fantasmic! dessert party and we were escorted via that path

I was gonna say The Twilight Zone, but that's Sunset Blvd.
