After running a story last week about the rumored Toy Story character breakfast at the Hollywood & Vine restaurant in the Disney-MGM Studios, we heard from one of the people who auditioned for a role at the venue. Reportedly, the breakfast is definitely a go, with rehearsals starting in March for an April debut of the meal. The breakfast will be run by "Sarge," of Green Army Men fame. This role will be an Actors Equity actor, as opposed to the Teamsters-represented characters normally found in the theme parks. This would seem to indicate a much higher amount of interactivity, requiring similar skills and representation to streetmosphere characters and other improvisational roles.

Some more rumors

Quote

According to insiders close to the source, the Toy Story Character breakfast at Hollywood & Vine is formally scheduled to debut in April 2006. It is further reported that the Green Army Man Sarge will be a “speaking” character and will be the “lead” character . Other characters appearing at this meal are unknown as of this point, but the role of the Sarge will reportedly be very intricate to the meal experience and will therefore be selected very carefully through a series of rehearsals conducted through out the month of March. Although the meal is internally soft scheduled, it is reportedly not available for reservations at this time.

I like the idea of making the Green Army men the central focus; they were very funny when they were all over the parking lots of the Studios.

Begining Spring 2006, the Character Dinning experience will be back in Disney-MGM Studios for breakfast and lunch at Hollywood and Vine Restaurant. The new Character Dining Experience will be introduced with Buzz Lightyear, Mr. Incredible, Sarge and many other of your favorite Disney/Pixar friends. The Fantasmic! Dinner Experience will still be available for the dinner meal period.

They are aiming for starting the Character Dinning at H&V on June 2nd with the official start on June 4th. If the Disney/Pixar Character Dinning is very popular for Breakfast and Lunch they will look to extend it to Dinner and move the Fantasmic package to another restaurant. This all (of course) is subject to change. After all, Entertainment was aiming to start in Jan/Feb but due to Character scheduling and Entertainment Contracts they kept having to push it back.

Any ideas when they would start accepting ADR's for it? Thanks!

The current policy is 180 days, so I would call now and see what they say. No harm in trying!

The problem with that is they aren't taking ADR's for it specifically. Figaro, I've heard that those who have tried to make ADR's have been informed they aren't taking ADR's at this time. Nothing wrong with trying but as of now, you can't book it yet.

It's looking like the Breakfast and Beyond character dining experience at Hollywood & Vine at the Disney-MGM Studios will be delayed a little longer. We're now hearing rumors that the meal will not begin service until the beginning of June. Another rumor that we're starting to hear is that the character meal will take place at both breakfast and lunch, possibly endangering the working name of the meal.

Reportedly, characters at the meal will include a virtual "Who's Who" of Pixar characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Sarge (of Green Army Men fame) and Mr. Incredible. Of course, none of this is final until they actually start holding the event.

Last week, we reported a rumor that the Toy Story Breakfast and Beyond character meal at Hollywood & Vine in the Disney-MGM Studios would be delayed, but possibly transformed into both breakfast and lunch. We have heard a new rumor that the meal has now been delayed further and possibly cancelled due to concerns from folks at Pixar about how their characters were to be portrayed in the show. It's possible that the meal may go on with the character meet-and-greets, but without the planned Green Army Men show. We'll let you know as we're able to get confirmation or denial of this change.

In some potentially unhappy rumors for those fans of Toy Story, there are now rumors floating about that the Toy Story theme for the planned breakfast and lunch at Hollywood and Vine may have been scraped. The details surrounding the matter are still fuzzy at this point, but rumors have now emerged that the reason for the delay in the announcement of the new meal is that Disney is having to reshuffle to implement a new theme. While the potentially new theme seems unclear as well, one rumor points to a Playhouse Disney theme. It should be noted that there has been no internal announcements about any cancellation of the meal theme and the most recent information internally published still listed the Toy Story meals starting Spring 2006.

At this point the already present waiting game for reservations to open seems to have morphed into a waiting game of will the Toy Story theme still be used. Auditions were held last month for the lead character of Sarge at the new meals, so if the Toy Story theme has indeed been scraped this was a very last minute change. Moreover, the published internal stance at this time is still that the meals will have a Toy Story theme, it is just currently rumored that these plans may have changed.

Darn, I was excited when I started reading this thread. But it looks like it's not going to be up and running when I'm there. I was hoping to maybe get in on one of the last days of my trip June2 or 3. :r2d2:

Anymore word?

Several Character Cast Members that were fairly close to the Toy Story project confirmed that Disney did hold the auditions for the planned Sarge character. They were reportedly quite surprised to find out the Playhouse meal had been rushed ahead without even having the "characters" auditioned yet.

Considering how far along the Toy Story project got with no overtly announced internal cancelation, there is some speculation amongst Character Cast that the Toy Story meal may show up in some other form at a not-so-later date. This is just speculation though, mind you...

I really hope so. Can't there be a way for them to co-exist. Breakfast or lunch with Playhouse Disney. Dinner with Toy Story/Pixar Characters!?! At least there is a glimmer of hope. Hey, I like eating there. I'd hate to have to give it up. :x
