Interesting. I'm guessing that this is going to be similar to the past "Making of" series of attractions just more story based like Prince Caspian (though hopefully not giving away every plot detail...) and will secretly be there to promote the rumored Fifth and Sixth Pirates movies

I haven't seen any mention of this anywhere (unless I've just missed it). All the disney blogs for WDW seem to be focusing on the new Fantasyland expansion with occasional mention of Splitsville. I'm beginning to wonder if this has become another Hyperion Wharf with nothing happening after the announcement.

It looks like they're painting it based on Matt's weekly photo updates, so hopefully that means things are still a go.

Right, they are definitely working on it. I've seen Imagineers at work inside and they've painted the exterior.

Sounds promising. I like the 1st person perspective rather than a "making of" attraction.
