I went out for an evening with my fiancee and took the time to write a report about it. We went to dinner at the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs (first time eating there). Made an ADR earlier in the day. Food was excellent. I had the Prime Rib and was the best prime rib I've had in a long time. The Saratoga Lager beer was amazing (kind of like an American Killians). The onion rings are a MUST as an appetizer. Not sure what they do to them, but the onion rings are spectacular (and only $4). Service was slow but they were also very busy. No auto-added 18% gratuity to the bill.

Saw wishes from the beach at the Polynesian. The Wishes music was piped in (last time I did that, there was no music). Fair amount of people on the beach to watch. LOTS of kids who were less than behaved. I now know what Mike Scopa talks about when he complains about parents bringing kids to WDW. Annoying kids don't bother me; annoying kids that parents don't do anything annoy me.

After Wishes, we went to Kona Cafe for dessert. We had about a 10 minute wait (no ADR) and had Kilauea Torte, "an explosion of warm liquid chocolate inside a brownie volcano" and a white russian. The 18% gratuity was added on here..very odd. Not a bad way to end the day.

So, Matt.

What is it like being a local, now.

Do you see visiting the parks a lot differently? Since you can drive and don't have to worry about planning evey second?

Maybe that could be a topic for chat!

Basically the primary difference is there isn't that overwhealming sense of "OMG, I need to go do everything before I leave!". If I don't get to ride something or it rains or its too crowded, I just say to myself "Oh well, I'll come back next week and try it.". So it's very calming living here in that sense ;)

^Yup, same way with me, only it's more like "Oh well, I'll come back tomorrow and try it."

See, now that's the odd thing: I remember it before being chocolate inside a brownie-type thing but tonight, it was inside a chocolate-chip cookie shell. The cookie thing was frankly not as good as the brownie--harder, and with a slightly processed taste.

So far everyplace has added the 18% gratuity except for Spoodles.

You are so living my life! Someday, I have to make that move!

Congratulations Matt on becoming a local!

:) It's great living down here and it was a dream for me to live down here for years so it's great to finally be doing it.

Sounds like a great night out. You can't beat good onion rings.

As for moving to Orlando.... I'd be happy to be less than 30 hours away!
