Haven't confirmed anything yet, but there may be plans for a May 31 arrival and a stay until June 6th. At what price can the Value Resorts be had on those dates? Also, since I'm traveling by train, will it be possible to catch a cab from the station to the resort? I believe HDLady, Darthstitch, or QuickGold could answer this question.

Sweet!

I'm just happy you could get to WDW! I know you were pining for a trip a few months ago.

Rack rates on the official website has all 4 value resorts at $82 per night... so at the MOST you're looking at $500 for room-only. I'd perhaps check with a travel agent, Mousesavers, etc.

As for a taxi... not sure on how much from the train station, but a round trip taxi ride could be around $120 plus tip (15% or an additional $20). For that price you might be able to rent two one-way rental cars!!!

Maybe you can bum a ride ftom someone...

Yes, you should be able to catch a cab. Just google the main dispatch number and have it in your cell phone so you can call in case a cab isn't waiting at the station.

Have never taken mass transporation here but I think there are quite a few options. Since you won't be bringing an auto with you, in addition to the Sanford station, there are add'l Amtrak stations in the area... Orlando, Winter Park and Kissimmee. I think the Kissimmee one would actually be the closest to WDW; maybe 15 miles ro so from the mouse. In addition to cabs, there is an extensive bus system that quite a few people use and it would cost lots less. You can check it out at

or maybe Jake can help you in deciphering the routes because I know he has mentioned taking the bus on occassion.

At this rate, I think Jake might be beneficial in directing me in the bus department. The Lynx travel planner doesn't work. ;)

I didn't know there was an Amtrak station in Kissimmee.

The Amtrak station in Kissimmee is on the edge of a quite pretty park right near Lake Toho.... Most "Northerners" don't know about it because they research and/or take the Auto Train which stops in Sanford.

Speaking of Jake.... where has he been lately????

First and foremost remember that Pop Century is the cheapest of all the value resorts. It is in a different county than the other All Stars and the tax is cheaper by half a percent. That half a percent may not sound like much but it adds up in the end.

Thanks, Maureen. I already have a ten day non-expiration ticket with five days left (Hopefully I can add days), and I've calculated the Pop Century resort at 787...

EDIT: I just found the rates for ASMovies and ASMusic without passes. It's $5 more. Are you sure you got the right info?

This is what I was talking about....

Tax is 12.5% for most resorts, 13% for the All Star Resorts.
