It seems even more ludicrous now that "Song of the South" is rumored to be on the 2006 DVD release list.

Ludicrous? Explain

It probably won't even make it out on DVD. People will still probably protest

The rename of Dixie Landings was at least in part due the word Dixie conjuring images of the old South and slavery. Up until now, "Song of the South" has not been released due to its depiction of these same things. So, if they really do release it, then the two events seem to contradict one another.

Personally, I think the movie should be released. Trying to hide the fact that slavery once existed in the U.S. doesn't seem like a good idea to me. As a wise man once said, "Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it". We should all recognize what was done to the slaves and the native American people so that we never let that kind of mistreatment happen again to anyone.

I agree that the movie needs to be released and I se your point now about Dixie Landings Rob. I thought you meant the release of Song of the South itself would be ludicrous.

Yup, it has never been released in the U.S. But it has in other countries.

The "controversial" things in Sots are no worse than what you can see in Gone with the Wind

Really I think its stupid that it hasn't been released. Everyone knows its been there. You learn about it in school, you can read about it online, it's not like you can really hide it at all. :-)

Hopefully it will be released. But really it's disney so who knows?

I agree with all of the claims stated above. Sots should be released by now. Hopefully, it will get released next year.

It would be nice to finally see a restored version of the film.

The sad thing is, is that if the movie isn't re-released, some kids will never know what Splash Mountain was based off of.

Song of the South needs to be on DVD. Everytime I did the old animation tour people have always asked when that would be coming out on dvd. Plus it would be nice to own an american copy.
