Since the Disney Hollywood Studios name change in January of 2008, Imagineers have been carefully removing references to the Disney-MGM Studios in name from around the park to avoid confusion. Over a year later, there remains a quite vivid reference to not only the Disney-MGM Studios, which has since changed names, but to also a part of the park that used to have a completely different name as well.

In front of the Backlot Tour entrance, you will find this sign which is meant to entice you to go experience the attraction. For whatever reason, this one sign still references a few different attractions that are long gone from the Studios. The sign itself is there from the early days of the Studios and was meant to advertise the Backlot Tram Tour as an exciting attraction. The photo in the sign is actually from one of the early productions where they used the Streets of America as a set for a real Hollywood production. In fact, Disney loved to promote the Studios back then as a real production lot and wanted to make the Studios a beacon for Hollywood production on the east coast.

In addition, the sign references "N.Y. Street", which is what the Streets of America used to be called prior to 2005 when Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show was constructed and much of the area that used to be part of New York Street was removed to make room for the attraction and subequently a San Francisco set was added to the area to make it more than just about New York.

So there you have it, a real dinosaur of Studios lore that is still around today. Who knows if or when this will ever be changed but this reference to the early days of the Studios remains with us for now.
