I've seen a few things that have refered to the Citizens of Hollywood as "formerly known as Streetmosphere."

Now i'm not sure if that's necessarily true. A sreetmosphere character, in my mind, is any character that changes the atmosphere in the street. While this would refer to CoH of course, this would also refer to Mulch Sweat and Shear, Stormtroopers during SWW, those SNL spoof Cheerleaders during ESPN the Weekends, and even the performers at other parks who do similar functions.

What do you guys think? Do you agree, or are the CoH the only real Streetmo in Hollywood Studios?

The spoof cheerleaders or the World Showcase actors are all examples of streetmosphere, which is simply "street acting". Citizens of Hollywood is a more Disneyfied term for streetmosphere, in my opinion.

I don't count Storm Troopers as streetmosphere though.

Why not? They seem to be do the same job as a Streetmo person, just without words. SWW wouldn't be SWW without running into a stormtrooper some time through the day

I do like them and think they add value to say, SWW, but the style of entertainment CoH and the World Showcase players give is completely different.

What about the characters on Main St at MK? Wouldn't they be streetmo?

depends ont eh character. I think if the person is in character then they are streetmosphere. If they are just joe blow greeting you at the shop then no.

The COH used to be called Streetmosphere. But streetmosphere are "actors" performing street theatre.

The storm troopers and costume characters are great, but they the "theatre" part is missing.

Citizens of Hollywood, Hollywood Public Works, Showcase Players all "perform". They are all gifted in Improv, which is a real talent. Someone on this board once told me that they characters in GMR or costume are under "Entertainment" as the COH are "Actors"

I have heard that MK has streetmosphere on Main Street, but I've never seen them, like the Mayor.

I wish NYC had streetmosphere.

I lived in NY and I'm pretty sure that the city has a lot of people that add atmosphere to the streets (not always good though).

No kidding. Times Square now has costumed characters, only they're fake characters who beg for money to have their pictures taken with you. That just repulses me. You can go to the World of Disney on 5th Avenue if you want to meet real Disney characters then pay for the photos later if you wish to have them.

I've never been to the World of Disney in NY. Is it worth while, if I'm in the area?

Absolutely. World of Disney 5th Ave. is run by Disney Parks, which means you can get the similar if not same experience that you'd get from visiting the parks, right down to the Disney Character Greetings. Here is their website:

I met the Mayor of Main Street once.
He was really nice. My mom loved him especially.
I think streetmosphere is whatever makes you feel like you are really in that place.
Like COH make you think you really could be in Hollywood. So I'm pretty easy-going with my definition. Even people waving at you seems like streetmosphere to me

Officially only the COH are considered Streetmosphere at the Studios. I get what you're saying though, but no Mulch, Sweat and Shears and the SWW stormtroopers don't officially count as streetmosphere in the eyes of Disney entertainment.

In the eyes of THIS parkgoer... Streetmosphere is any cast member that adds to the theming of the area.

DeVine would be streetmo, as would The Dapper Dans, to me.

I have heard Non-COH Cast Members refer to themselves as Streetmosphere..

They might. But as far as how entertainment is split up at the Studios on COH is "officially" Streetmosphere
