Encouraging Hollywood Studios Awareness

It’s no secret how much I love Disney’s Hollywood Studios, given the years of time that this site has been in existence and in that time, I’ve spent countless hours telling stories, news and other tidbits of information about the park and sharing my passion for it with all of you.  I know that since this site came into existence, I’ve met many other fans who are very passionate about their love and/or admiration for this park and it’s something I love to continually talk about with anyone who brings it up in conversation.

And yet, I can’t help but think I haven’t done enough to help raise that appreciation and love of Disney’s Hollywood Studios further around the interwebs so I have a challenge for my fellow Disney blogging community.

I am hereby declaring the week of June 14-18, 2010 "The International Hollywood Studios Awareness Week" and I’m challenging all of the Disney blogs, twitterati, forums and other sites out there to take just one day to publish something celebrating an aspect of Hollywood Studios.  As I often like to say, it doesn’t have to be Shakespeare in quality (lord knows this site certainly makes Will roll over in his grave on a weekly basis). Perhaps it’s an article about your favorite snack at the Studios or a look at the theme in a particular land, sharing photos from a recent trip to the Studios.  Regardless of what the article is talking about, a net-wide talking about the Studios only serves to drum up more passion and interest among those who regularly consume the great writing that can be found in the Disney internet community.

If you are someone that doesn’t have a Disney based site, that’s okay because you can participate too in The International Hollywood Studios Awareness Week! You can drop by your favorite Disney forum and start a thread about some aspect of Hollywood Studios and encourage others to share their thoughts and opinions.  Alternatively, you could go on Twitter and tweet something you love about Hollywood Studios with the hash tag of #DHSAwareness. It doesn’t matter who you are, there’s a way you can be part of the movement to celebrate a different part of Walt Disney World.

You may be wondering why you should even bother participating and that’s a fair question.  While I think there’s a tremendous amount of great writing going on in the Disney internet community, I think all too often we’re a little too solitary in terms of how sites connect between each other.  I’d love to see more of a conversation going on between sites and a closer knit relationship because after all, we’re all in this together (apologies to High School Musical).  In addition to all of that, I know there are folks out there that are huge fans of the other parks and resorts and I think that’s great and by celebrating Hollywood Studios, we’re also reminding folks that Disney World isn’t just that place with the castle.  There’s lots of other aspects of this resort that make up the sum of it’s awesomeness so by celebrating Hollywood Studios, we’re also celebrating everything Walt Disney World.

So there you have it, a challenge for all of you to mark your calendars on June 14-18, 2010 and do something that week to raise awareness of how great Hollywood Studios truly is.  I can’t wait to read some of these postings, entries and tweets and thank you in advance for helping everyone out!
