Friday, February 27th
75 degrees and sunny, light crowds

The plan for each day we were in Disney was to try at least one new thing. The day started w/our first meal at the new Tusker House. We all woke up late, still super tired from our really late arrival, my husband and I agree we will never do that flight again. We got to AK around 11:15 just in time to check-in for our 11:30 ADR. We were one of the first seated. The food was unbelievably fresh. The white rice with the chix curry super yummer-nummers! I loved just about everything and what I didn’t try my husband did. He said the seafood stew was fab. (I’m allergic, so we’ll have to trust him.) My girls both ate really well, Keely liked the steak. Both kids were also excited that there were doughnuts leftover from breakfast, so they had those for desert. I liked the pecan choc.chip torte.

After stuffing ourselves we were ready to walk off the calories. This trip was different, both girls wanted to stay far away from Dinoland and Nemo. (We liked Tarzan Rocks, not the show as much as the outdoor theatre. My kids are not fans of the new Nemo show, “Too loud, too dark!” as our youngest says.) We got FP for Safari and then headed to Rafiki’s Planet Watch; again, we had never been there. Both kids really enjoyed themselves. We brushed the goats & sheep, pet a horned lizard & looked at all the cool reptiles. It was fun and oddly relaxing. We had enough time to do the Pangani Trail, Izzy loved the gorillas. Then off to the Safari, our driver had a fabulous sense of humor, her adlibs made the trek more enjoyable. We were going to do Exped Everest, but our 5 year old had never done a roller coaster, so we decided this was not a good coaster to start with. Instead we went to see a few characters at Camp Minnie Mickey. This is where my husband’s ten year search for Pocahontas came to an end. There she was, standing all by herself in front of her former attraction. Guess who was the first to take a picture…by himself, funny, creepy and sad all at the same time. In approx 20 minutes we were able to see all of the major characters. Izzy really wanted to see the parade, so we found a spot right by the entrance to Camp Minnie Mickey, I bought popcorn because it’s a rule and we watched. I think because of where we were sitting on the curve, every character came and shook our girls’ hands, or hugged them…too cute.

We went back to the hotel; I went to workout at Saratoga Springs health club and then met the family for swimming. After swimming we took the boat to DDT and ate at Earl of Sandwiches…YUM! We did a little shopping and headed back to POFQ on the bus. Got the kids ready for bed, tucked them in and once again, brought our chairs outside the room, drank a glass of wine and waited for the kids to fall asleep.

Not to reopen a cold case, but let's do it anyway.

I liked both Boma and Tusker House, however, I do a lot of Indian cooking, so the food was not as unique as what I've had at Boma. I think Boma eeks out Tusker House by a small margin...oh and there are no Zebra Domes!
